The Pandish Broadcasting Company (PBC) is a state-owned public institution - a broadcaster of national radio and television programs, and an online news and general broadcasting service, it's headquarters are settled in the Capital City of Baltese. It is the oldest, and the longest running broadcasting organization in the country. The PBC Council is the supreme governing body of PBC, representing the public interest. The council is made up of 12 people, which serve for six year terms total. Primary broadcaster topics are public, scientific and cultural. Although PBC is financed from the state budget, additional income is earned from advertising licensed commercials on it's services.
History
PBC was established on January 1st, 1970, in the City of Drylliad, by Gwalather Trethewey, a well known radio host for Diana River Radio (DRR), and Brithael Tremayne, a journalist for a small local newspaper company, named "Expect Today". Trethewey filled an application to the Pandish Media Rights Commission (PMRC) for a broadcasting license, where it would allow the company to set up their own broadcasting network, and begin to legally broadcast on their own designated Television channel, and on March 2nd, 1970, the PMRC approved the application and granted the company the right to begin public broadcasting. 24 Days later on March 26th, 1970, 'PBC Television' was established, and first ever public broadcast was aired, it had gathered overwhelming amounts of positive reception from the general audience, and managed to catch the people's imagination, which then marked the start of PBG's road to becoming the National Broadcaster of Pand Quelle.
By the start of 1973, PBC had begun streaming licensed commercials given by companies under the written contract of the Company Commercial Sharing and Streaming Act, which was enacted back in 1971 by the PMRC, which would allow companies to legally broadcast commercials on TV from opted-in commercial organizations, and gain a percentage of revenue in return, which assisted in the broadcaster getting better broadcasting equipment overtime, which enhanced the quality of television services significantly, it acted as the company's primary revenue source until 1975, as the state presented the broadcaster a contract which would provide monetary funding for the broadcaster, and thus after signing the contract, the broadcaster become the second public broadcaster to be primarily state-funded in Pand Quelle.
In 1978, PBC began it's expansion into other regions of Pand Quelle, as they began constructing, and reusing old buildings as their secondary stations inside other counties to primarily increase their workforce, aswell as their streaming coverage. At this point, PBC's influence within the broadcasting industry has rapidly increased, as the PBC's general audience kept increasing over the years.
On March 6th, 1979, PBC had officially relocated their headquarters from the Linear Studios building in the City of Drylliad, to the Broadcaster House, inside of the now-Capital City of Baltese.
PBc's radio services were officially established in February 24th, 1989, and began service a day later on February 25th, 1989, and served as the birth of the 'Radio Division'.
On March 6th, 2019, PBC established 'PBC Politics' television channel, dedicated towards streaming all political related news, and parliamentary meetings.
Divisons
PBC is made up of two existing divisions, the 'Television Division', and the 'Radio Division' :
- Television, responsible for media management, and with a goal of providing and streaming television services around Pand Quelle.
- Radio, responsible for providing media coverage, music, and news to the public via radio devices.
The Pandish Broadcasting Company hosts three television channels, and two radio stations accordingly, :
- PBC Television, which is the national television channel of Pand Quelle.
- PBC Kids TV, which is a television channel that plays cartoons, trivia shows, etc. mainly targeted at a younger audience.
- PBC Politics, which is a television channel that is dedicated for political broadcast, parliament meetings, etc.
- PBC Radio, which is the national radio of Pand Quelle.
- PBC Minor, which is a radio station that is targeted at a young audience, offering its listeners alternative music, often neglected by most commercial stations around the world.
Governance and Structure
PBC is a statutory corporation, independent from government intervention, with its activities and programming overseen by the PBC Council and regulated by the Pand Quelle Office Of Communications. As of March 2019, Geoffrey Sammesbury is the current Chairman of PBC. The Terms and Conditions of PBC's license to broadcast is set by the Pandish Media Rights Commision (PMRC).
Finances
The Pandish Broadcasting Company runs on a €7.9 Billion Operating Expenditure budget as of 2019, the largest budget of any Pand Quelle-based broadcaster, compared with the €5.2 Billion budget for BroadAirTV, and €3.1 Billion budget for DeviATV.
Expenditure
A significantly large portion of the PBC's income is spent on the corporation's Television and Radio services with each service having a different budget based upon their provided content.
Headquarters and regional offices
The Broadcaster House in Baltese, Pand Quelle, is the official headquarters of the Pandish Broadcasting Company. It's home to the Television and to the Radio networks, PBCTV, PBCKTV, PBCR, PBCM. The construction of the building began back in September 2nd, 1957, after it's completion on January 8th, 1958, the building was opened two months later.
The Broadcaster House was firstly built for the purpose of general business of machinery construction, until PBC's rapid expansion into the Broadcasting Industry back in 1978, where the Broadcaster House property was given to the broadcaster in January of 1979, pre-relocation.
As part of a major consolidation of the PBC's property in Baltese, The Broadcasting House has been continuously renovated and extended over the years. This involved the demolition of the wing on the eastern side of the building, replaced by a new wing which was completed back in 1999, and then renovated from 2006, till 2008. Most studios are located within the newly renovated wing, aswell as the operating studio of both PBC Television, PBC Radio, and PBC Politics. While PBC Kids TV's, and the PBC Minor's studios is located within the already existing northern-wing.
There are planned refurbishments for the northern-wing of the headquarters, which are projected to start in January of 2022.
Incidents
March 5th Hijacking
On March 5th, 2019 at 9:40 PM, a supposed technical hijacking attempt took place on channel 'PBC Television', which prompted the broadcaster to shut the channel down entirely after taking notice.

Xytech, a Pandish cyber-security company investigated the supposed equipment that was the target during the hijacking attempt, and declared that the problem was a result of outdated security software, and a security hole within the IVF/TTP-SE Encryption/Decryption System, which allowed the hijackers to gain access easily.
At 10:15 PM, PBCTV returned to broadcasting, as Xytech works with the Baltese Police Force to track, and arrest the people involved in the act.
