The People's Republic of Appennini (Peninsular: Repubblica Popolare d'Appennini) was the single-party state government ruled by the People's Communist Party of Appennini from 1921 to 1979. The government collapsed with the decisive loss at the Second Appennini-Vistulzkan War and the death of the final ruler, Giovanni Bernardino.

The People's Republic was established in the end of the Calendula Revolution in 1921, which started in 1918. The Calendula Revolution overthrew the Second Kingdom of Appennini and declared a new government, the People's Republic under the rulership of Salvatore Mormando and the People's Communist Party. Various internal differences between the People's Communist Party started the Second Peninsular War in which a variety of communist and anti-socialist parties split the country into a variety of different fringe governments. The Second Peninsular War ended in 1927 which resulted in a total victory for the People's Communist Party. Salvatore Mormando began a variety of contentious reforms during his rule, as well as the Great Peninsular Purge which killed over a suspected 100,000 political dissidents and civilians.

After Salvatore Mormando's death in 1951 after 31 years of rule, he was succeeded by Vittorio Nazzari. Nazzari ruled a very brief period in attempting to reform Mormando's oppressive and authoritarian rules. Nazzari was eventually assassinated and was succeeded by Angelo Badoglio. Under Badoglio, he reinstated Mormando's rule over Appennini society and the political scene. Badoglio promoted social reforms for universal education and would later enter a political struggle with a different faction under the command of Donato da Sangallo. Da Sangallo was eventually killed and Badoglio died under natural causes in 1964, succeeded by Giovanni Bernardino
