Early life and education
Pika was born on 8 October 1974 in the town of Kōwā, the on the main island of Ho'olua. He was raised in a middle-class family and attended public schools. Pika was a bright student and excelled academically. After finishing high school, he attended the University of Kōwā, where he studied political science and economics. He graduated with honors in 1996.
Early work and political involvement
After graduating from college, Pika worked as a community organizer, focusing on issues related to workers' rights and economic justice. He was also actively involved in the Syndicalist Party, a left-wing political party that advocates for worker control of the means of production.
Political career
In 2002, Pika decided to run for the Ho'olua Provincial Legislature as a member of the Syndicalist Party. He won the election and served two terms. During his time in the legislature, he focused on issues such as workers' rights, affordable housing, and healthcare reform.
