The Premier Football League, often referred to as the Alecburghish Premier League or the APL (legal name: The United Alecburghish Premier Football Association League), is the top level of the Alecburghish football league system. Contested by 18 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Alecburgh Football League (AFL). Seasons run from late July to late April with each team playing 34 matches (playing all 17 other teams both home and away). Most games are played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons.
Southampton FC is the most successful club with 26 trophies, second is Glouchester Harbor FC with 22, and third is Taylor with 16.
Four Clubs have successfully stayed in since the league's inception in 1908: FC Rochester Square, Saint Ricardo AFC, Santos East FC, and Segusio Union.
While ten clubs have never dropped from their first promotion: AFC Elliot Sands, Alec-Seaside, FC Rochester Square, Gloucester Harbor FC, Hartford Chariot, Riddyc AFC, Saint Ricardo AFC, Santos East FC, Segusio Union, Southampton FC, and Wren and Gull FC.
