The Prime Minister of Caminoes (Toshi: Shushō (首相)/Caminoesian: Primus), officially the federal primus of the Federal Republic of the Caminoan People is the head of government of Caminoes. The prime minister chairs the Cabinet of Caminoes and has the ability to select and dismiss its Ministers of Government. The prime minister also serves as the commander-in-chief of the volunteer Caminoan Armed Forces and as a sitting member of the Kanoa Deita. The individual is appointed by the President of Caminoes after being elected by a general vote. The prime minister must retain the nomination of the Deita and answer to parliament to remain in office, as per General Rule Itosu of the Caminoan Basic Law of 1899.
Their term of office is four years which can be terminated earlier. No limits are imposed on the number of terms or tenures the Prime Minister may hold. The Prime Minister is, by convention, the leader of the victorious party, though some prime ministers have been elected from junior coalition partners or minority parties.
The incumbent officeholder is Jamie Whitley of the CdC, who was elected in July 4, 2020 succeeding former Prime Minister Mitsuko Itou. She formed her coalition government through the allaince with; CSD, Caminoan Moderates Party/Onken-ha, The Greens, and Centrum.
