Rafael Martín, born Rafael Arnold Martín-Tarrez, is an Inyurstan professional surfer. His father was in the Navy, and a young Rafael moved around from naval base to naval often as a child, where he quickly picked up surfing.

Career

In 2008 at the age of 14, Rafael entered the Blue Krystal(R) Triple Star surf tournament on the island of Cayo Grande in the San Meresque Strip, and placed third in his age group. The following year he took home the first place trophy, and a monetary prize equivalent to $1,500 US Dollars. After this, Rafael Martín began receiving sponsors and commercial deals to continue competing in tournaments across the world. He has surfed in several foreign countries, including Gran Cuscatlan, Brazil, Hawaii, the Merick Isles and Australia.

In 2016 he enlisted in the Inyurstan Coast Guard for two years, where he spent his free time surfing.

Activism

Martín is strong advocate of veterans issues. On several occasions he has donated large sums of money to helping disabled or otherwise impaired former service members. He has started a program to help amputees and other injured veterans to get into recreational water sports, believing that being able to find enjoyment in activities will help them adjust and better enjoy life.

Rafael was a vocal and unapologetic supporter of then-candidate Jean-Baptiste Calderone. In 2017 he and his girlfriend Alexandra Mariposa were publically photographed sharing dinner and a drink with VP pick Alvaro Delacroiz and his wife.
