It was founded in 1865 by King Manuel III of Amathia, and due to receiving the sponsorship of the Royal House, it was the most important football club in the country until 1940, when after the inauguration of the Equalist Regime, it was renamed and demoted. The club returned to its original emblem and name in 1981, and ever since it has competed in the highest echelon of Amathian football, Liga I.
According to most polls, they are one of the three most popular football clubs in Amathia, alongside Astrul Arciluco and Lăncierii Jarderia, with the former being their main rival, and with the matches between the two being the country's largest derby.
