Religion in Sharifistan

Religion is an important aspect of life in Sharifistan where 91.5% of citizens are Muslim.

Islam

Islam is the state religion of Sharifistan and the religion of 91.5% of it's citizens (. It is highly influential in culture, politics, society and law. The most common type of Islam is Sufi Islam (followed by 60.3% of the population). the Mevlevi Sufi Order is supported by the state and the Maturidi school of Islamic Law is used by judges in Muslim civil courts as well as in criminal courts.

Christianity

Christianity is fairly common in Sharifistan, especially the Orthodox Church (followed by 3.5% of the Sharifistani population), followed by Catholicism (followed by 1.5%) and then Fundamentalist Mormonism (followed by 0.5% of the population).  Christianity in general is followed by 5.5% of the Sharifistani population. 

Judaism

Sharifistani Jews are almost always either Karaite Jews or Haredim. Jews in Sharifistan are represented by the Hakham Bashi (Sharifistan).

Sikhism

Sharifistani Sikhs are a small minority but a highly respected one due to their service in the Armed Forces. They have their own millet like most other religious groups and are popular.

Religion and law

Most religious groups can solve disputes between themselves via millets (a type of civil court which rules according to the religion of the disputants).
