The Republican Party, colloquially known as the Grand Old Party (GOP), is a right-leaning political party in the United States. Founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists, the party is the second-oldest in the US, and is currently the largest of America's seven main political parties. The GOP is the largest party in the right-wing Conservative Coalition, which also includes the States' Rights Democratic (Dixiecrat) and Florida Alliance parties.
