A Romaian passport (Greek: Ρωμαικό Διαβατήριο) is an identity document issued to Romaian citizens. Besides enabling the bearer to travel internationally and serving as indication of Romaian citizenship, the passport facilitates the process of securing assistance from Romaian consular officials abroad.

Types

Passports are valid for 10 years for applicants aged 16 or over and 5 years for applicants under the age of 16. Electronic passport contains an embedded chip and has the chip logo under the word "Διαβατήριο".

Physical appearance

Front cover

Ordinary passports have a Bordeaux-red front cover, with the coat of arms of Romaia emblazoned in the centre of the front cover. The word "ΔΙΑΒΑΤΗΡΙΟ" (Passport) is inscribed in bottom, "ΡΩΜΑΙΚΗ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΙΑ" (Romaian Empire) above. The "e-passport" cover has a microchip symbol at the bottom. Pasport contains 32 pages.

The data page is printed in Greek and English.

Issue time

According to the National law and the orders from 2018 either document has to be issued within one to three months, depending on circumstances, with the issue time being three months in case of an application being made to a consulate outside of Romaia.

To obtain a passport, it's needed to fill out an application form, taking into account all the requirements. It could be done by hand or electronically on a computer, there are also online services that could fill an application for a passport via the Internet, including the official website of the Government and e-government smartphone applications.
