The Charnean Intelligence Community is the collection of agencies and military units dedicated to gathering intelligence from various sources on behalf of the Charnean government. The number of agencies as well as the overall nature of the Charnean intelligence apparatus has varied over time. Since the foundation of the Charnean state in the 14th century, civilian leaders in Agnannet as well as the military commanders in the field have made extensive use of informants and spies to gather information all across the continent, whether this took the form of hidden scouts and spies providing crucial information to the armies in the field the secret police networks established in the newly conquered territory in order to suppress resistance and control the population. In the modern era, these networks have become formalized into official agencies and organs of the state tasked with various internal security, law enforcement, and intelligence gathering duties.
Intelligence was one of the hardest hit institutions in the wave of rapid-fire reforms and political purges which followed the Muttay uprising in 2023, alongside the military and the political establishment. In particular, the agencies involved in the state security apparatus and internal security were purged and reformed. As a result, many experienced leaders that might have served to organize the new agencies and organizations that have been established have been imprisoned, blacklisted, or otherwise rendered incapable of assisting in such a role. This has placed the Charnean intelligence community as a whole in a state of increased reliance on foreign allies to fill the void left by the Muttay purges, namely the Mutulese Akbal K'in and to a lesser extent the Noch’ob Nah which assist in the training of Charnean intelligence operatives and may cooperate with certain operations of Charnean agencies.

Internal security
The Adunnya Saqarhat Agezen (ASA) or the "Public Safety Forces" are a civilianized organization which originated as a military intelligence unit established within the now defunct Counterinsurgency Corps of the Charnean Army active in the far east. Their function as that of general internal security within the country, expanded from their original function which was primarily to monitor the activities of the civilian population in order to reduce the chances of collateral damage caused by counterinsurgency operations. It acts as the intelligence gathering apparatus for the military counterinsurgency and border guard units on security assignments.
External intelligence
The external intelligence network, informally but universally known as the Herekket, is the only foreign intelligence agency of the Charnean government. It does not officially exist, as the government has never publicly acknowledged the organization, although its activities are known to many foreign governments and rival intelligence agencies.

The SET
The Segew Etter Temusne or SET was the primary intelligence and security agency of the Empire of Charnea from 1945 until its dissolution in 2023 just days after the formal abolition of the Imperial government as a result of the Muttay. Its primary area of responsibility was internal security and domestic intelligence. The SET was widely implicated in the disappearances of political dissidents, activists of left wing and ethnic secessionist movements, and was alleged to have had connections with the Alxalat.
