Sauriel the Luminous (Willinkian: Σαουριήλ ο Φωτεινός), born Sauriel Stethatos was a Willinkian Christian priest, theologian, apologist, court official, historian, philosopher, and saint. Born in Kanis, Willink to nobility, Sauriel is credited with the conversion of the Willinkian people to Christianity, as well as serving as the first Patriarch of Willink. Noted for his defense of the essence-energies distinction and hypostasis, as well as his commentary on the Filioque, Sauriel was an accomplished author and orator, his tract On Mystagogy earning particular renown. Sauriel is also hailed for his scholarly contributions, notably his accounts of early church theology and episcopal structure in Willink, as well as historical geography in eastern Haven. Following the Great Councils of the 4th Century, Sauriel was venerated in the Doomani Catholic Church for his contributions to theology, establishing him as a preemenent figure of Christianity in the region writ large.
