Salzewinde, is the largest city in the Matriarchy of Lunderfrau, with 4,010,320 living in the city as of 2020. It is located in the North western portion of the Duchy of Eiswasser, sitting at the center of the Salz Bay. Founded in 973 BCE as "Salvinda", it is claimed to be the oldest continually inhabited metropolitan city in both Lunderfrau and the world. In addition to being the largest city in Lunderfrau, Salzewinde also boasts the largest metro aswell, with 11,513,400 individuals living within it.

Built on and around the swamps of Salz Bay, Salzewinde is a major port for the Matriarchy. It is the 2nd largest port by tonnage in Lunderfrau, just behind the city of Hillern. It is governed by a strong mayor system at the local level while being subject to both the Countess of Salzevinder and the Duchess of Eiswasser, both positions currently held by Duchess Angela Fischer.

Salzewinde is considered to be the economic, cultural and prior to the Strauss Dynasty, political epicenter of Lunderfrau. Its position on major trade routes and access to both the esketres and meletis allowed the city to outperform its rivals. This outperformance culminated in the Unification War in 1384, when Duchess Kristina of Eiswasser, used the cities vast wealth to fund her conquest of the other Duchies. Salzewinde would serve as the seat of power for the Kaiserin and the capital of the Matriarchy from 1412 through 1724, when Kaiserin Kassandra von Strauss opted to move the capital to the city of Laubenhugel in her home Duchy of Ardenne.

Today, the City of Salzewinde leads Lunderfrau in Finance, R&D, Pharmecuticals, Banking and IT. In addition it is considered a major architectural hub for its Art Deco architecture dating to the reconstruction period post Olympic War.
