Samuel Murata (born October 24, 2272) is a Carinansian politician and veteran who is the 69th and current Vice President of Carinansia under the Canfeld Administration.
Born in Llorelades, Embardoro, he was predominantly raised in Nojawa. Murata graduated from the Hanatakt Military School in 2293 and quickly rose through the military ranks, particularly for his work with Carinansian interstellar operations. In 2312, he became one of the first officers assigned to a permanent mission supporting Vraxian resistance efforts against Azlan rule. Over two decades, Rios formed strategic alliances and participated in dozens of campaigns, during which he trained Vraxian leaders and civilians in guerrilla tactics, diplomatic protocol, and the tenets of democratic governance. His service cemented his status as a champion of sovereignty and equity across the galaxy. During this time, he reportedly did not return to Tecia between 2295 and 2324.
He was one of the military leaders responsible for the planning of the 2327 Battle of Azla, leading the 12th Galactic Fleet for the second wave of contact against defending Azlan units, and which led the bombing of Pyndara. He received an honourable discharge late that year, after the Fleet concluded their offensive operations. He moved to Santa Lilian, Paldonia, where he was elected as the President of State Senate in a campaign led by the majority Party for the Cárinansian Revolution. During his time in the position, he adopted a neutral, moderative approach to prevent the rise of political polarisation in the state. In early 2330, he announced the beginning of his campaign for the Senatorial office of the 14th Congressional District of Paldonia, which he won with 56.1% of the district's vote. While in the position, he advocated for a tempered peace treaty with the Azlan Empire, and the establishment of a permanent Carinansian military presence across the galaxy.
As the end of his second term approached, he chose not to seek reelection due to personal issues. In late 2335, he was approached by former Najolk Governor Ronaldo Canfeld to become his running mate in his upcoming presidential campaign. He accepted, and the two campaigned side-by-side for the next few months. As Vice President, Murata has helped pass much of the President's legislative agenda, but has only used his voting powers on two occasions, abstaining from participation: for the passage of the Azlan Debt Relief Act, and the Veteran Services Act, both in 2336.
