Schatten [enlgish: Shadow/Shade] or "Schatten Wächter" [english: Shadow Guardian] and "1st Erzengel of Hölle" [english: 1st Archangel of Hell], is the Commoner Angel of Shadows, Illusions, one of Three Princes of Hölle, and the Godly Guardian of the Underworld in TECT Mythology. His official name in length is "Schatten Wächter, 1st Erzengel of Hölle, 1st Geboren of Hölle [english: first born of Hölle]. Schatten personifies the fall into darkness, fear, shadows, corruption, madness, and illusions. His wings are said to ensnare mortals who wonder from righteousness into its ever expanding wings of darkness -- where they are lost forever; these wings also creates shade behind physical objects on the surface of the world. Schatten's main role in TECT Mythology though is his position as the godly guardian who protects the Underworld from outside and internal threats. Using his wings that never end; Schatten shields the Underworld from being discovered and those from within from escaping -- those who try forever dig or travel, unable to reach either side. His ability to create and alter the perception of reality of those in his wing's shadow is also heavily noted in tales and poems. Schatten's role as a guardian figure has also been popularly written and used in modern times to inspire those who take guardianship roles. Fear is also attributed to Schatten in many instances because of his role in darkness and illusions, which usually are dark and demonic.
Schatten is the firstborn son of Hölle, ruler of the Underworld. His soul purpose is to protect the Underworld and act as its watchdog from outside intruders -- and also to command his ten million legions; those who do manage to break through though, were to never escape -- alive or dead. The illusion inspired god is also blamed for people seeing something not really there (illusions), and is said to never be able to touch because those who do only fall through him into the depths of darkness. Schatten is also known as the 1st Archangel of Hell, or an elite warrior guardian that protects the Underworld from all threats; his power is so great that he is often feared even by his older kin. In many tales; heroes died trying to fight their way through the gates of Hell from the poisonous shadow clouds that are Schatten's wings -- which are said to never end and go on forever. Heroes who survived the entry would usually be ensnared in darkness or illusions until death if they are not killed in combat; even Angels got lost in the darkness in some tales, but could eventually escape. Only few people, god or mortal, ever lived to return from the Underworld because of Hölle's permission. Although Schatten is not feared for his combat skill -- he is feared similar to a poisonous plant; appearance of weakness and lower fighting potential, but, the poison could easily kill.
Similar to the other Princes of Hell; Schatten has two horns on his head which symbolize his rank and strength in the Underworld; as well symbolizes his prestige in the Underworld and his age. His entire being is said to be made completely of shadow like clouds and that he can shape himself into multiple forms; such as having multiple limbs or taking the figure of the Yak. Schatten also commands ten million legions ("Ten Million Legions of Schatten") of warriors, who guard the underworld with him. As one of three Princes of Hell, the first Archangel of Hell, commander of ten million legions, and the godly guardian of Hell; Schatten is one of the most powerful beings in the Underworld and is amongst the most feared deities in TECT Mythology.
