Shane Ferguson is a Vionnan professional footballer who plays for National League club Erin Duchy and for the Vionnan national team. Ferguson was a product of the Dangenny Rovers youth academy and was poached at the age of 13 by Kilmartin Royal where he stayed until 2014, including a brief loan spell at Vauxhall in 2008. Ferguson joined Erin Duchy in 2015 for a fee reported to be around L13m.
Though usually listed as a forward, Ferguson is considered a complete player, capable of performing at both ends of the pitch. Starting his career as a defender, he soon became recognised for his speed, heading proficiency, and goalscoring instincts. As a result, he was often employed as a second striker while at Dangenny. During his loan spell at Vauxhall, Ferguson was used primarily as a striker, scoring 22 goals in 32 appearances. Since joining Erin Duchy in 2015, Ferguson has mostly been used a squad option due to his versatility, playing as a striker, center-back, and as an attacking midfielder on various occasions.
Long overlooked by the national team, Ferguson achieved his first Kingdom of Vionna cap in in 2017 for a friendly against the Frankenlisch. He has since made 27 further appearances, including featuring in Dane Walker's team which ended as runners-up in the 2020 CIFA International Cup. Ferguson has scored five goals for his country.
