Brief History

The Early Years

The beginning of the Shazbotdom Marine Corps caused the need for a new breed of weaponry to replace the outdated equipment that was currently owned by the Shazbotdom Government. This brought about the XR series of weaponry. Among these were a Battle Rifle, Handgun, SMG, Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Shotgun and Stationary Gun designated with the numbers 01 through 07. The Marines also had new uniforms to distinguish them from other armed forces throughout the world. Using a Kevlar-based composite developed by researchers at Erikson Armorworks, a Shazbotdom based subsidiary of DuPont, the work began on a new type of aarmourthat would be flexible enough for use in the military battlegrounds of the 21st Century.
Vehicles were also severely needed with the formation of the Marine Corps. Thus began the WH Series of Warthogs (Numbered 01-04), The T-500 Tank and the AT-01 Mongoose. These vehicles would be the staple of the Marine Corps for many years to come.

2011 - XR Weaponry Redesign

In August of 2011, under a joint decision of the Ministry of the Military, with Grand Admiral James E. Rockenbach as the main person behind the movement, a redesign of the XR Series of weaponry was began. At a secret underground research facility in a disclosed location, the redesign of the XR Series of weaponry for the Corps started only a few days after the declaration was made by Rockenbach. This caused a major public outcry due to the abolishment of the old Army and Air Force. Some claimed that it would do more harm for the safety of the Empire than it would to assist in the re-establishment of the Empire as a world Superpower. Within the first few months, the people of the Empire saw that it was nothing to be worried about as many of the members of the old Army and Air Force were transferred to the new Marine Corps, this was done in an effort to bolster the number within the new Corps, but also brought many of the men and women who have shown that they are able to be trusted with the safety of the people of the Empire.

2015 - XR Weaponry Redesign #2

The latest variant of the XR Series of Weaponry, which are to be mass produced at Shazbotdom Military Suppliers (the Marine Corps main weapons supplier), uses upgraded technology for more accuracy. The weapons system includes a new look for the 7 guns that are used by the Shazbotdom Marine Corps throughout it's sectors of conflict. Making them sleeker and more friendly to the eye for combat missions. All new marines are trained on these weapons in the Academy and all Career Marines were trained in the field to use the updated weaponry.

2016 - XR Weaponry Additions

After much contemplation within the leadership of the Marine Corps, new Weapons needed to be designed to combat the ever increasing threats within the world. This was also part of a decision to redesign the current XR Series of Weaponry. After much work at Shazbotdom Military Research and Development, the XR-08 through XR-12 models came into existence. They include a Designated Marksman's Rifle, a Grenade Launcher, an Assault Rifle, An Adhesive Explosive Gun and a Squad Assault Weapon. With these new weapons, it is the hopes of Military Intelligence that there will be fewer casualties on the battlefield. Primary tests indicate that these new weapons are exceptionally accurate within their distance ratio's with the Squad Automatic Rifle being best used for targets within 100 meter range and would best be used against groups of targets, including enemy fire teams, who march in close formations.
As per the other XR series weaponry, the contract for the manufacture of these weapons went to Shazbotdom Military Suppliers. Then, after more debates, with the need for a close quarters combat solution when projectile weaponry is unwarranted, the Research committee designed the B-200. The B-200 is a Combat Knife that is carried on all Marines within the Marine Corps. Bringing the total weaponry that is at the disposal of the Marine Corps to 13 different weapons.

2019 - XR Weaponry Retirement

In the middle of July of 2019, Under a joint decision by the Ministry of The Military as well as the Ministry of the Treasury, the Marine Corps was ordered to do some research for a replacement to the XR Series of Weaponry. After trials, research, and small purchases, it was the decision of the Parliamentary Armed Forces Committee that a contract would go out to the Pharthan company of Halcyon Arms.

Vehicles

2012 - Vehicular Additions

In mid 2012, it was deemed necessary for a redesign of the current vehicles of the Marine Corps. With different variations of warfare and several airborne attacks upon ground vehicle assets of the Shazbotdom Empire, it was mandated by imperial decree that new additions would be added to the current vehicles of the Empire. At that point, the addition of the T-550 Anti-Aircraft Battery and the WH-05 Rocket Warthog were added to the capabilities of the Marine Corps.

2017 and 2018 - Vehicular Remodeling

In November of 2017, changes were needed for a couple of the different vehicles of the Marine Corps. Designs were put forth by a few different corporations within the Empire, with the contract, as per usual, going to Shazbotdom Military Suppliers. The changes were only adopted for two of the vehicles of the Corps, with redesigns for the other six vehicles being put off due to budgetary concerns. The new vehicles were then introduced into service in June of 2018.

2020 - Vehicular Retirement

With the needs of the Marine Corps ever changing, it was the decision of the Parliamentary Committee on Military Technology to withdraw the contracts currently in place with Shazbotdom Military Suppliers and, in return, retire any and all vehicles purchased from them out of service. A call went out to corporations across the globe and several of them put in bids to the Empire. It was then decided that, as per with the weapons contracts, the contract would be awarded to the Pharthan Corporation of Halcyon Arms.

Weaponry

The M1 MASIR Line

The M1 MASIR is a shoulder-fired, gas operated, magazine-fed, adjustable-stock, selective-fire, bullpup weapon system, primarily filling the role of assault rifle, but also possessing the capabilities of a sub-machine gun, battle rifle, sniper, and designated marksman's rifle with an additional belt-fed squad automatic weapon variant.
The M1 MASIR was designed as a replacement rifle. It's "Mission Adaptable" title comes from the ability to quickly swap out barrels between missions, or in the field if resources allow. This minimizes the number of receivers needing to be built to fill all missions, and to build them more as needed for personnel. For additional adaptability and customization, the M1 MASIR makes heavy use of the picatinny rail system. In order to be able to fill all roles, the M1 MASIR was designed as a bullpup weapon; it can provide firepower of a battle rifle within the lengths of average carbines. By placing the firing assembly behind the ergonomic pistol grip, several inches are saved, allowing for either a more compact weapon in comparison to counterparts, or a more powerful, longer-barreled weapon of the same overall length as it's competitors. The design promotes overall stability; placing the firing-assembly between the shoulder and grip allows for greater dispersion of force and creates a down-force towards the hand rather than an up-force away from it, allowing for the user to better compensate for recoil. Additional compensation is provided by directing excess gases to counter the recoil through the gun, positionally above the user's hand, and downwards.
The MASIR line was designed very much with the infantryman in mind. Originally, the MASIR was intended to use an all 6.8mm round, favoring the size closer to the 5.56mm standard NATO round, while favoring heavier firepower more akin to the 7.62mm - this was considered heavily feasible by the fact that the M1 MASIR is designed to replace all facets of infantry rifles. The 7.62mm model, the M1H was added to provide heavier firepower for models such as sniper rifle roles, battle rifles, and squad automatic weapons. The M1 utilizes an ergonomic grip for the easy of carry, and can easily have picatinny grips added, as well as any other picatinny system. The standard designs can accept all 6.8 SPC magazines or 7.62mm STANAG.
While the M1 MASIR naturally features a slotted flash-suppressor, it can be easily swapped out for other barrel designs. The stock barrel design is heat-treated and hammerforged, utilizing gain-twist polygonal rifling. This promotes longevity of the weapon through easier maintenance and lessened erosion of the barrel-throat. As well, the design is less prone to barrel failure or carbon build-up. The polygonal rifling provides a better gas-seal, allowing more efficient use of the gases involved in the firing process, allowing for better recoil-compensation through their use. This seal also provides a marginal increase to accuracy. Halcyon Arms specifically takes great care in heat-treating the barrels through use of extended soaks and heat-up and cool-down times in the hammer-forging process, taking great care to ensure that accuracy is maintained by minimizing residual stress. While a long, complicated, and often taxing process, the quality of each barrel is superb.
While the M1 MASIR comes in right and left-handed models, each can be effectively used ambidextrously via the ergonomic grip and a firing system designed to project the shell forwards and away from the user. A right-hand-design rifle will eject the shell forward and away from a left-handed user's face safely. This also prevents users from accidentally losing brass within their clothing or that of their compatriots, moving the shells away from the traditional firing-line and cleans up their battle-area in not having so many brass shell-casings underfoot. The slide-action and fire-selectors are located on both sides of the weapon.

The M1 MASIR Carbine Rifle

The M1 Carbine is ideal for all engagements, excelling in medium-range combat. This model of the barrel-design is primarily intended as an Assault Rifle, and is considerably shorter than many of it's Assault Rifle Counterparts, as well as far more stable, leading it to both long-range accuracy and close-range maneuverability.

The M23-9 Line

The M23 is designed to be an ambidextrous modular weapon, making swapping parts easy while still maintaining a rugged frame, resistant to jamming and corrosion. The slide is designed to rise over the user's hand, higher than other pistols, and smooth edges rather than sharp to prevent nasty "bite," especially common when off-hand shooting. With a slide-action being rather heavier than common with pistols, the back end of the slide features both a metallic-grip and a raised finger-stop to prevent slippage while chambering rounds. All M23 variants are fully ambidextrous, including rubberized comfort grip and external safety. Sights are adjustable to each user, though are naturally set for common-user style firing, and feature iridium forward-sight for low-light shooting.

The M23-9

The M23-9, the original M23 pistol, was designed in hopes of creating a multi-purpose pistol, meantto be functional for civilian, military, and police. The 9mm round was chosen for it's versatility, effective range, and moderate stopping power, making the M23-9 an effective military standard weapon for enlisted and officers alike.
The M23-9 features a heavier barrel to fight recoil and improve accuracy, and features the ability to mount silencers and external add-ons via picatinny rails.

M90

The M90 grenade is a fragmentation hand grade made by Halcyon Arms with an effective kill radius of about 6 meters. It is a development off of older grenades, with slightly more firepower than average, though it sacrifices this for weight. The M90 has a spherical body with hard grip surfaces to facilitate the user's ability to maintain hold of the grenade and prevent slippage in a variety of environments, while also not preventing rolling. The grip-ridges do not cause a significant increase in fragmentation shards.
The grenade uses a Composition B explosive of about 220grams and has a pyrotechnical delay fuze (5 seconds) and has a safety pin to prevent the pin from being pulled accidentally. Once the round pin is pulled, the safety spoon is lifted via spring action and the spring-loaded striker initiates the grenade's fuze assembly. If desired, the user may hold on to the grenade to prevent the striker from initiating once the pin is pulled, but once the safety spoon is released, the fuze will continue to burn.
Steel fragments are provided by the grenade body and will kill at a radius of 6 meters (~19 feet). Injury will occur if with 18 meters (59 feet) of the grenade blast. Some fragments may be able to disperse as far as 250 meters.
