The Sid Manimane massacre took place in the night between July 22 and July 23 1996 in the village of Sid Manimane, 15 km south-east of Dar Al Hamma. 402 citizens were slaughtered, including pregnant women, children and even animals in some cases. The AIM revendicated this massacre on July 25.
