Sol IX & I (Sol Violetta Kjalvœr Joanna; born 1 August, 1991) is the current Förstatta of Norday and Archqueen Consort of Sjealand. As the youngest child of the late Esja XII and Kristofer IV, she succeeded her mother following her passing on 26 Febuary, 2015, taking the regnal name of Sol IX and the era name of Välsigöda.

Early Life

Youth

Sol was born on 1 August, 1991 at The Blessed Saint Eliana's Hospital to Förstatta Esja XII and Kristofer, Förson of Norday. She is the first Nordanese monarch to be born in a hospital. She is the youngest of the five children that the couple would have together. Sol was formally named two weeks following her birth, being given the name Sol Violetta Kjalvœr in honour of her maternal grandmother, maternal great-great-aunt, and her aunt. At her naming, she was officially granted the title of Hereditary Princess. She has two older sisters: Princess Yrsa (b. 1990) and Princess Lilja (b. 1987) and two brothers: Prince Kristian and Prince Kristofer (b. 1989).

Education

Sol attended public pre-kindergarten and kindgergarten in 1996 and 1997, respectively; the first royal to do so. Following the beginning of the 1998 Recession, a brief stint of anti-monarchy sentiment in the country caused her to be withdrawn from the public school system and finish the rest of her primary and secondary education home schooled. After receiving her graduation certificate after Year 12, she attended the Tonnu Institute of Liberal Arts in Mintopu, Tuthina, specialising in creative writing and journalism. After six years of study, she passed both the highest wisi exam and the first kongsi exam, although she only achieved below-average scores in the latter. Despite the scores, and because of the education recognition laws, she is considered to have a doctorate in creative writing. In addition to her native Nordanese, she is fluent in Teutonic and, due to her education in Tuthina, Classical Vernacular Tuthinan and is conversational in Literary Tuthinan.

Reign

Politics

Officially, Sol is apolitical, believing that she must be politically neutral in order to better serve as a unifying figure for the nation. This does not translate into practice as Sol has spoken against the regimes of Nevanmaa and Iron Pact nations and the oppressive, autocratic nature of the nations. Additionally, she has criticised the National Coalition's handling of the two nations, saying that a firmer hand is required in ensuring democracy and stability are brought to the states. Sol has reportedly donated to several key Green Party candidates in the 2015 general election, including MP Mar Alrunsson who became the first Green Party representative for the Frayshavn district since 1989. Sol describes her political beliefs as being heavily influenced by social liberalism and the Social Ecology movement in Min.

Personal life

Personality and Interests

Throughout her life, Sol has been regarded as far more informal than her predecessors. She eschews traditional Nordane monarchical garments, opting to dress in designer clothes imported from abroad, often donating clothes she no longer wears. Sol continues the policy first initiated by her grandmother and allows tours of all her familial holdings, and public use of all familial land holdings. Owning several large plots rain forests, some of them encompassing several hundred hectares, Sol lends them out to environmental organisations, wildlife refuges, and has some opened as national parks. As a child, her tutors described her as being a "kind and caring girl with her heart in the right place, so long as you remain on her good side." This has carried on into adulthood. Those that cross her will often face her uncharacteristically strong temper, and those that unintentionally cross her will often find themselves being displaced by a long-standing grudge.

Sol holds several interests and hobbies, chief among them being a mild obsession with association football. The fondness of the sport largely came about due to not being allowed to play as a youth. After buying the team in 2012, she is a majority owner of her hometown club, Sporting Club Vibeke, and frequently makes trips to watch them. She described them winning back-to-back championships in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 as one of the "greatest moments of her life as both a fan and owner." Aside from association football, Sol has taken up an interest in photography, writing, horse breeding and racing, and fashion designing. In 2015, she released a clothing line made entirely out of recycled clothing meant to be "both affordable for the average Nordane and stylish." Her photographs are mostly stills of workers and servants inside the royal palace, believing "the best photographs of people are when they're natural."

On 1 Febuary, 2017, Sol married long-time partner Frederik of Sjealand following four years of courtship. The two initially met at Frederik's coronation but did not publically appear together until 2015 when Sol returned from the Tonnu Institute for Liberal Arts, where it was confirmed that the couple had been together since 2013. The couple got engaged on 29 June, 2016, and were married on 1 Febuary, 2017 at Åsgard Grand Temple in Åsgard, Sjealand. A second ceremony was held in the Acropolis of Our Most Holy Mother in Frayshavn, Norday on 20 March, 2017, the vernal equinox. A few hours before the first ceremony, Frederik's new titles of King consort of the Nordanes and Sol's titles of Archqueen consort of Sjealand were announced as is the protocol for royalty on their wedding day. The titles became official on 20 March, 2017 following their second, Nordanese wedding when Letters Patent to the effect were signed and archived.

Controversies

Because of her informality, Sol has found herself on occasion to come under scrutiny for comments that were perceived as being naive, offensive, or inaccurate by outside observers. In her first year, while attending the Tonnu Institute of Liberal Arts, numerous cell phone videos showing Anastasia partying, drinking, and doing illicit drugs were posted on social media websites. A few weeks after the comments were made public, Sol issued a formal apology saying that her comments had been made without thinking.

Domestically, she created controversy in 2012 when she purchased the Elitserien team Sporting Club Vibeke for an undisclosed amount. Many believe that government money was used for the purchase and that the Football Association Board was bribed to allow a royal to buy the team. Outside of that, Sol has been accused of giving government funds to the club to be used during the transfer window to buy players.
