The Southern Territories Purchase, officially the Viridia, South Lake, Torchland Purchase was the acquisition of Viridia, South Lake and Torchland by the Western Confederal States from the Belfrasian Empire in the year 1803 by a treaty ratified by the Western Congress.
With the purchase of the Southern Territories, the Western Confederal States gained a substantial amount of new territory. In an inharmonious society still recovering from the Western Revolutionary War over 50 years ago. Controversy sparked up in the three newly added southern states of the Confederacy, as a majority of Western Royalists did not recognize the purchase, and sought to reinstate the rule of the Belfrasian Royal Family. Western Republicans on the other hand supported the purchase. This led to the Citizen Registration Act, 1803 which gave all citizens of the Confederacy the right to declare and identify themselves as either Republican or Royalist.
