The Sphiridonic War was a civil war that was an ideological split within the Order of K'vari. The two main factions were the Sphiridon the Second with the rebelling Second Sphiridonic Sabaphos and the First Ioselian Sabaphos after the death of Ioselia the First. The war is considered to be the start of the Second Sphiridonic Era and led to the overthrow of the First Ioselian Sabaphos. The Sphiridonic War was also interlaid with extremely complex political and legal questions surrounding the legitimacy of the War, a leaderless Sabaphos and a unconfirmed claimant to the title of K'vari Sabaphos Mepe. Sphiridon has claimed that Ioselia the First had confirmed Sphiridon as his heir as Sabaphos Mepe, but this was conflicted with K'vari absent succession line, which deemed then Metsnieri of the Order Abiathar the Second, then Abiathar the Patriarch; as the heir to the Sabaphos Mepe.

The Sphiridonic War first pre-war phase began with a series of legalist battles concerning the Doctrine of the K'vari between Ioselia and members of his Sabaphos. Initially Ioselia attempted to centralize the power of the Order of K'vari to grant full authority to himself, which was considered heterodoxic to the First Isodoric Intepretation of Imedio Honour. Those who opposed Ioselia against his attempts to change the Doctrine of the K'vari and preform heterodoxic actions were considered Isodoric puritans, while those who supported Ioselia were considered the First Polity (Ioselia).

After the death of Ioselia, the split between Isodoric puritans and the First Polity led Ioselia to no fully declare his heir to the Societal Preservation Assembly, the Council of Sentinels or the Metsnieri of the Order. Sphiridon, then the Caretaker of Society and apart of the First Polity, claimed that Ioselia had left him as the heir to the title of K'vari Sabaphos Mepe. Abiathar the Patriarch, the Metsnieri of the Order anad a Isodoric puritan, considered Sphridion's attempt to claim to Mepe as mutiny against the Sabaphos.
