History

Services

Excluding the other high-speed service provider, ST, Tennaiite high-speed and intercity services are provided by TENRAIL. Currently, TENRAIL provides 5 classes of railway and metro services.

TTX

Ttx (Tennai Train eXpress) is currently the highest class of TENRAIL services. TTX services are provided on all major lines as well as many branch lines.

ITX

ITX (Intercity Train eXpress) are a group of intercity services. The first ITX service was introduced in 2012 when RTX (Rapid Train Express) lines were renamed.

Urban railway services

Named Metropolitan Rail services (MR), these services are provided in all the major metropolitan areas within Tennai. Officially, fare systems of these services are separate from other services operated by TENRAIL; such services are integrated with subway fare systems, allowing free transfers between TENRAIL-operated lines and local metro lines.

Passes

TENRAIL offers a rail pass called Tennai Rail Pass, or TR Pass for short, to foreign travelers, such that they can take most of the trains operated by TENRAIL freely, including TTX. However, subways and tourist trains operated by TENRAIL are not covered.

Foreigners living in Tennai for more than six months are ineligible to use a TR Pass, but TENRAIL offers the Happy Rail Pass, which is very similar to the TR Pass, for a slightly higher price.
