Taanga Siumut are the ruling and founding party of the Worker's Republic of Nunalik. Taanga Siumut is the sole governing party in Nunalik, with all other political parties banned, a status quo that has been maintained since Nunalikan independence in 1959. A far left and communist political party, the Taanga Siumut are defined in the constitution of the Worker's Republic of Nunalik as the "guide and vanguard of the Nunalikan workers and nation", a role which has led to their consolation of power over the nation's economy, military and much of the social life of Nunalikans. Every member of the Nunalikan government and economic planning committees is a member of the party, alonside the heads of the military.
The leader of the Taanga Siumut is widely regarded to be Laaki Qualli, the General Sectretary of the party. While nominally, the Premier Qeqqeq Saamika has more power than him, his control of the party and the influence that the party has over the nation means that he has more influence over the nation.
