Talk:Makopa
Political asylum
Makopa lets anyone apply for political asylum, but wouldn't be granted asylum if found out they were war criminals in another country. Since Makopa follows the principle of non-refoulement, and if the asylum seekers are already on Makopan soil, they just become unwanted immigrants. Theyre allowed to stay but they have no asylum rights.--Pikabo (talk) 00:40, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

(Draft) Political outline
The Batasan Pambansa, the Federation of Makopa's legislature, has been dominated by two parties: Makabayan (right) and Akbayan (left). The Makopan constitution is modelled after the Goyanean system, so it follows first-past-the-post and there are subordinate legislatures in constituent states. The Kaladya, the Empress of Makopa, is neither the nominal chief executive nor the official head of state. She is defined only as "Symbol of State" and holds no power whatsoever.--Pikabo (talk) 15:32, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
Fuss on Makopa's abolition of the armed forces
I guess in the context of Fuss, The government would more than willing to re-engage with the world including their immediate neighbor, also consider they just succesfully tested rockets in 1961, their would feel secure in the fact that Makopa would not pose a significant threat and would welcome the fact they could lax their watchful eye due to the Hightonian exit. The only issue I could see come up, is Fuss's concern about maintaining the maritime security of the region to protect trade--Pikabo (talk) 04:01, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
I would be down to have some Accords or something as a formal expression for closer friendship and perhap ease of travel over the border.--Pikabo (talk) 04:12, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Old canon discussion
Pikabo05/20/2020 Heyo [8:51 PM] I got another question but no pressure on answering it immediately [8:52 PM] I've got an idea that I'd like to entertain for Lawston [8:52 PM] I was talking to Xen about the prospects of not having permanent armed forces [8:54 PM] Then he suggested having Lawston become party to a multilateral agreement with Fuss, Astragon, and/or other major powers in Iteria or the entire world, to recognize Lawstoner neutrality. [8:55 PM] Do you think this is feasible?
Kyle05/20/2020 It's feasible if they adhere to that. But ask Belgium how that turned out.(edited) [8:57 PM] Belgium was guaranteed by all the surrounding powers and yet got stomped when one of them decided to ignore it.(edited) [8:59 PM] Only Sweden and Switzerland managed to maintain their neutrality and went unmolested because they presented credible defence capabilities. [9:00 PM] Saintonge is also neutral for more than 200 years and yet it maintains a military - one never knows when a random country decides to drag it into a war. As the adage says, Si vis pacem, para bellum = If you want peace, prepare for war. --Pikabo (talk) 04:12, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Makopan imperial succession
Makopa is matrilineal absolute primogeniture. Men are barred from succeeding the throne. Zhen, on the other hand, bans women from ever becoming monarch.--Pikabo (talk) 04:12, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Makopan matriarchy
Coolio~~ Makopa is also a matriarchal society. In the old days, before colonialism intrduced monogamy, Makopan women had mutiple husbands. Men were also barred from high societal positions. Thanks to pesky foreigners, men also got the vote when democracy was first introduced. But the majority of contemporary politics is still led by women.--Pikabo (talk) 04:12, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
Diwanism
Burial rites
In Makopa, land burials are banned and are reserved to members of the Imperial Family. All Makopan dead are buried at sea or scattered ashes in rivers and any other body of water as may be specified by law (except those that are man-made). According to the Diwanist creation story: Lisuga was the granddaughter of the primordial gods Kaptan (God of the Heavens) and Maguyan (God of the Seas). She died at sea after perishing from the stray lightning and powerful waves caused by her quarreling siblings. Her lifeless body gave birth to the first humans, scattered in groups across new continents created by the battles between her siblings.
Land burials were allowed specifically for Messianists and other adherents of foreign religions before 1965 when Makopa was still a Hightonian protectorate.
