Tania, officially the Federation of the Tania Islands, is a nation in western Europe. It surrounds the Ire Sea and has a coast with the Atlantic Ocean to the west and north, the Celt Sea to the southwest, the Tanian Channel to the southeast, and the North Sea to the east.

Tania is the newest member of the ESEP and has in recent decades increasingly been under proxy control by Magarsha, but not nearly as much as other nations in the ESEP. Being a member of the ESEP, Tania is in even more danger of falling to Magarsha. Tania rates moderately in civil liberties, but very low in HRC-FS human rights due to authoritarian practices. Gender inequality, harsh prison conditions, and restricted public services are common throughout the 23 kingdoms. Political freedom varies by kingdom, but at a national level, political freedom is moderately high via regular referendums, polls, and democratically elected governments, but has declined due to increased Magarshan influence.

Tania had not exported or imported anything until it joined the ESEP and was required to. Tania has only produced what it has needed and does not have any natural resources valued by any country. Consequently, Tania has the weakest economy in the world, but it is stable. Tania joined the ESEP for the security benefits, but economic requirements dictate Tania must import and export to and from other ESEP members.

Etymology

Tania is named after Great Britain, which was a large island that now is separated into several of the large islands of Tania after significant flooding from melting glaciers and ice sheets. Britain is an anglicized form of Britannia, which was an ancient Roman province encompasing the southern half of the former island.
