Tardine, officially called The Greater Empire of Tardine (Tardineanni: ᨂᨙᨈ ᨄᨌᨙᨕᨒᨘᨕᨕᨗᨌ ᨅᨙᨌᨒᨚᨕᨗᨏᨙᨕᨕᨚ ᨏᨗᨓᨍᨗᨌᨙᨏᨚ, Thas Grandonner Tardineanni Emperai) is a nation located on Southern Auroria. It covers an area of 693,908 square kilometers and lies north of the Amethyst Sea, being on the shore of Ethian Sea as well. Kardenccia is the Empire's capital and its third largest city. Other major urban centers include Miccan, Guipi, Olmongeter, Kinbafa, Luratin, San Martin, Zenulvia and Nouva Narissei.
The southern area of Auroria where Tardine is located nowadays was inhabited by human groups for thousands of years, without being possible to precise when they arrived there. That is why it is believed that the Tardineanni are the truly natives of the Aurorias, along with a few other groups. Prehistoric Tardine was composed by warring city-states, that sometimes got unified in Kingdoms, but none of those lasted long enough to be of note. At around 1300BC, Trantoria - the largest and most well developed city state at that time, located on the province of Gramnofi - and other 9 city states unified into the League of City-States. The union didn't last longer, though, as Trantoria's influence kept growing up until it became the Republic of Trantoria, by the year 1000BC.
For centuries, the Republic thrived and was able to conquer a few territories nearby, until a big drought made the Republic's power decrease. In 503BC, Clodius Varat successfully seized the power and became the first Emperor of the Trantorian Empire. His rule didn't last long, though, as he died in 494BC. Elanor Varat, the youngest daughter, was appointed by her father and assumed the throne in 495BC, making it the beginning of the sucessor being the youngest descendant tradition. The city of Trantoria was destroyed and abandoned in 391AD, when the Trantorian Empire was going through decades of economical crisis, leaving it vulnerable to attacks of barbarians and other empires (such as the Suadivician Empire).
The Trantorian Empire lasted until 484 when, after the late Empress' children fought for the throne, it was split into two smaller empires: Western Trantorian Empire (484-621) and the Holy Eastern Trantorian Empire (484-627), which become the Empire of Tardine in 627. The first Tardineanni Empire lasted until 999, when other barbarian incursion, this time composed by Prydanian Vikings, destroyed their capital, Vezuria, and killed the Emperor along with the nobles. This was the start of the Dark Ages, when there was no central government and the surviving cities kept fighting each other.
On the year of 1418, Kardenccia Gerok Kladerai unified a few city-states under her rule, creating the Great Empire of Tardine, which's the beginning of the Tardine's Colonial Age. After many Colonial Wars (1519-1754), though, Tardine's imperial domain was loosing its greatness and, on 1789, Hermani Narissei Erialdaka stole the crown by killing the entire royal family. The only who survived was Kardenccia Berduk Kladerai, who was still a baby. She was able to take back the crown in 1808, when she killed Daniloss Kappena Erialdaka, Hermani's son and Emperor at that time.
However, the aristocracy was unhappy with her and forced her to leave the throne in 1813, when they created the Republic of Tardine. She was then sent to a sanatorium, until when her husband, Erminei Inurish, helped her to march back to the old capital, Olmongeter, and reconquer the throne, creating the Greater Empire of Tardine, which lasts until today.
As of now Tardine is a Constitutional Monarchy led by an Emperor/Empress as Head of State and a Prime Minister (alternatively know as Chef of Parliament) as Head of Government. With 183.3 million inhabitants across its 23 constituent provinces, it is the most populous country on Auroria.
