The Tauridans are an East Slavic-speaking ethnic group more closely related to the Russian and Ukrainian people today. They are descendants of Cossacks who converted to Islam and ethnic Russians, Ukrainians and other Slavs after the incorporation of the Crimean Khanate to the Russian Empire. Together with other East Slavs from neighboring regions, they were often labeled by the common exonym Ruthenians, or by the regionally more specific designation Turco-Ruthenians, with subgroup designations such as Dolinyans,
