19th century

The Red wave

The Red wave was a surge of socialist and communist protests and rebellions in 1886.

It was put down by force when the navy destroyed the headquarters and arrested 8500 members. Of those, 21 were executed by the navy without a trial during the arrests.

20th century

The revolution of 1902

The revolution of 1902 was a Leftists and Democratic revolution where the labour unions and the intelligentsia combined forces and opposed the government. The revolutionaries took over industrial districts, universities, and government buildings.

The revolution ended when the army took over the revolutionary base of fort Louisa. All 10,000 soldiers were sent to prison without a trial and all commanders were exuded without a trial.
