The Axiom Enigma was a Jumbosan heavy metal band formed in Albertine, Jumbosa, in 1987. It was founded by lead singer and guitarist Phillipe Achille, bassist Vincent Luximon and drummer Victor Luximon. The Axiom Enigma were one of the pioneers of thrash metal and they managed through their success to popularize heavy metal in Jumbosa. Their music maintains a popular following and influence from their music can still be seen in modern heavy metal bands.
In the late 1980s, The Axiom Enigma established itself as part of the Albertine extreme metal scene, releasing its first album, The Collapse of Reason, for the independent record label Atomic Nuissance Records in 1988. The sound on The Collapse of Reason relied heavily on quick heavy riffs combined with cleaner vocals. The sound on the first album was a mix of speed metal and neoclassical metal, drawing inspirations from works by bands such as Mercurium. Their second album Armageddon, released 1989, had a much more rougher and heavier sound than their debut, drawing inspiration from the extreme metal underground scene that had developed in Albertine during the 80s. After signing to major label Guillotine Records in 1991, The Axiom Enigma found unexpected mainstream success with their fourth album The Devil Axiom, especially with the first single Cranium. The album topped the jumbosan hard rock charts, and Cranium managed to peak at 12th place on Jumbosan Top 100 chart.
