The Laxettes are a female West Phoenician doo wop and 60s Retro musical group that were born in the province of Pawnee Prairie, in  the city-state of Fort Blackfoot, in The Empire of West Phoenicia

The musical group consists of the Lax sisters; Margie Lax and her two younger sisters, Angel and Melissa who goes by Missy.

Their song 'Please don't take my cigarettes' written by their father and manager David Lax was first performed at the 49th season of the World vision Song Contest in  2016. The group failed to win the contest, however the song which gained noterity and controversy, shot them to national acclaim across the Empire. The song reached number one on the West Phoenician Pop Charts after debuting at number 20.

History

Margie, Angel and Missy Lax were born in the province of Pawnee Prairie, in the city-state of Fort Blackfoot, in The Empire of West Phoenicia.

Margie, the eldest child of the Lax clan was born in September 1996. Angel was born in June 1998 and Missy was born September 1999.

Their father David Lax was an executive at WP Gold Tobacco. Their mother India was a children's book writer and housewife.

In 2013 all three girls were attending Pawnee Praire West High. During a school talent show they entered as a musical act, calling themselves The Honeysuckles.

In the talent show audience was Clayton Woods, owner of the Blue Flamingo Supper Club. Liking their style he offered them a contract to sing 50's and 60's retro songs for the Thursday to Saturday dinner audience.

In 2016 their father became their manager and wrote the song, 'Please don't take my cigarettes.' The song would be their entry into the World vision Song Contest.

The song entry failed to win them the competition. Many countries commentators found the song topic too controversial, the performance of the girls, amateurish and their wardrobe outdated and gaudy.

The appearance did get them the attention from West Phoenician record companies.

Upon their return home, they were offered a contract with WP Gold Records.   They recorded 'Please don't take my cigarettes,' where the song debut at number 20 and within weeks was the number one hit in the Empire.

National and international tours commenced with the girls touring 51 city-states. The city-state of Agape declined to organise a concert labelling the girls music as 'ungodly.' The city-state of Herodian Valley whose governor is a member of the West Phoenicia Prohibition Party banned the group for singing, due to its anti-tobacco stance.

The female trio became overnight stars; 12 to 30 year olds became their main fan base.

The group is still active, they continue to tour and perform concerts, as well as write and released songs.

WorldVision Song Contest

The criteria to compete for the opportunity to perform at the World vision Song Contest called for musicians who were established but were not considered professional or established with a record label.

The selection panel consisted of a number of established musicians and music producers as well as Minister of Culture, Lady Genevieve Wolfe and Minister of the Arts, Baroness Honey Baroda.

120 musical acts registered for the opportunity.

The Laxettes won the right to perform at the Worldvision Song Contest #49 which was hosted in Prescott, Electrum.

Twenty-eight nations entered the 49th season of the Worldvision Song Contest.

The Laxettes final ranking was 26th for the debut entry for West Phoenicia.

Please don't take my cigarettes lyrics

WPrecord1.jpg

"Just one more puff I’ll be right"

"Girl you look so happy you could be in heaven"

“That’s cause I met this boy at the drive-in”

“Did he take your hand and walk you to the stars?”

“Kinda, we went back to his car”

“Did he buy you popcorn and soda pop?”

“No but we danced the mashed potato and turned the radio off”

“Tell us Margie, tell us the lot”

“My head was spinning I turned real hot”

“He leaned over to kiss me I thought I’d just die”

“I remembered Momma’s homemade apple pie”

“I remembered the first time I tasted it I just cried”

“The same thing has only happened twice”

“Do you swear to the Lord, tell no lie?”

“I swear this boy gave me wings and made me fly”

“What do your folks think of him, did you get a name?”

“Ma and Pa don’t like Johnny in any way” “They told me I had to dump him the very next day”

“Girl this love is real intense and strange”[Friend 1] “Was he great, did he behave?”[Friend 2]

“He was pancakes and lemonade”

“But I gave Johnny up don’t ask me why”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why”

“Ma and Pa won’t buy, buy, buy…”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why?”

“I had to choose between my cigarettes and my guy”

“I knew it was wrong but I had to win”

“Maybe it was wrong, maybe it was right”

“Just one more puff I’ll be right”

“No more tears to cry”

“Another empty wet pack tonight”

“You chose cancer sticks over your one true love?”

“Johnny was my drizzle of honey, my white dove”

“He was hot love gravy in my hot chilli soup”

“He was at the drive-in, in his hotted up Ford Coupe”

“All the girls would stand and drool”

“They wanted to be with Johnny too”

“Until my Ma and Pa made me choose”

“Between my ciggies and being a love sick fool”

"But I gave Johnny up don’t ask me why”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why”

“Ma and Pa said they wouldn't buy, buy, buy…”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why?”

“I had to choose between my cigarettes and my guy”

“I knew it was wrong but I had to win”

“Maybe it was wrong, maybe it was right”

“Just one more puff I’ll be right”

“No more tears to cry”

“Another empty wet pack tonight”

“What did this boy do when you gave him the news”

“I told him after I did my make-up and rouge”

“My poor Johnny got real angry like cheese slipping off its cracker”

“Girl the way you talk of food and boys I’m surprised he didn’t smack ya!”

“Johnny wouldn’t do that, we had a connection like cotton candy and apple sauce”

“Huh? Are you for real? Your acting like an unhinged door”[Friend 1]

“That’s true this boy done you nothing but right”

“And all you gave him was a nasty bite”[Friend 2]

“But I gave Johnny up don’t ask me why”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why”

“Ma and Pa won’t buy, buy, buy…”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why?”

“I had to choose between my cigarettes and my guy"

“I knew it was wrong but I had to win”

“Maybe it was wrong, maybe it was right”

“Just one more puff I’ll be right”

“No more tears to cry”

“Another empty wet pack tonight”

“Look I will tell him I’m sorry, just give me a light”

“You’re doing it after you put that cigarette in your mouth, right?”

“Yeh I just need one more drag to get me through”

“I wanna make it up to Johnny I need too”

“I just can’t believe what you did to him”[Friend 1]

“What you did should be a deadly sin”[Friend 2]

It’s not my fault my parents made me dump him” “Now I’m feeling like a Halloween pumpkin”

“But I gave Johnny up don’t ask me why”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why”

“Ma and Pa won’t buy, buy, buy…”

“Why?” “Why?” “Why?”

“I had to choose between my cigarettes and that guy”

“I knew it was wrong but I had to win”

“Maybe it was wrong, maybe it was right”

“Just one more puff I’ll be right”

“No more tears to cry”

“Another empty wet pack tonight...."
