Canessia is a beautiful place to live. Its national flower, and symbol, is a Stargazer Lily. The national animal is a flamingo because of its beauty and peace. The ethnic groups within the nation are 31% Canessian, 27% French, 22% Spanish, 18% Greek, 11% Italian, 8% African, 7% Asian, & 9% other. The form of government is a monarchy. The Queen is Vanessa Qumsieh, and the Prime Minister is Hazel Star. A monarchy is a form of government in which a person, the monarch, is head of state for life or until abdication. It might seem unfair that the people do not get to choose their leader, but it is not. The Queen/King has to vow to listen to all suggestions that come from the people, and promise to be a fair leader. Queen Vanessa is the 50th Queen in her time and Prime Minister Hazel is the 55th. Canessia is located where old Eastern Europe used to be. The capital is called Queenland and the largest city is called Little Canessia. Some people find it funny that the largest city is called "Little" Canessia. Canessia is known for its beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The ground is covered in luscious, bright green grass and many little hikes. There are a few mountains and lots of beaches. The beaches are covered in thin sand, and the ocean is crystal clear. It stays light out for a while before getting dark. It only gets dark at about 9 P.M. The etymology in Canessia has changed tremendously throughout time. An example is the word cap and its many definitions. 1: a head covering and especially one having a visor and no brim 2: something that serves as a cover or protection for something 3: a part that forms the top of something 4: an upper limit on spending 5: someone who is lying or being untruthful.
Military
Canessians can choose to join the army if they desire, it is not forced upon them. When you enter school, you learn how to fight. It is mandatory until the age of 18, when you can choose if you want to continue learning in college. The weapons used are guns, knives, swords, and bows. The military usually does not have to do much considering Canessia is a peaceful nation that does not partake in many wars. Canessia's allies are the Nation of Bestnation, Donkeyland, The Kingdom of Shrekland, and the Kingdom of the Kingdom of Ataraxia. The enemies are Leslieland and Sharkvines Islands, including one trade partner, the Frankenstein Islands. The enemies of Canessia are quite peaceful and that is why there is no bloodshed.
History
Ancient History
The founder of the nation is Canessa Qumsieh. She was 16 when she discovered Canessia and brought her people with her. There was no one who lived here so she decided to claim it and for her generosity, the people decided to name it Canessia. They lived in peace for centuries until Leslieland decided they wanted to take Canessia for their own. Everyone teamed up against Leslieland and after a long, brutal war the Canessians won. After this a tradition sprung out. Every May 8th, the day they won, they would party all day and all night. In each province a ball was held by the lord/lady that rules there. Everyone was allowed to go, no matter how rich or poor. The national anthem came from this war. In French, the original, it is "Ô Canessia, Apporte- Nous la Paix" but in English it means "O Canessia, Bring us Peace." The motto in French is "C'est votre vie, et nous y vivons tou" and in English "This is your life, and we are all just living in it." That is the motto because Queen Canessa wanted everyone to know their self worth. In Canessia, no one is put down and everyone is confident in themselves. They created a multitude of inventions for Canessia was always quite inventive.
Medieval Times
The Medieval Times were a time of prosperity. Everyone was happy and it was peaceful in the nations. People made new forms of the arts including new genres for music, literature, and painting. Men, Women, and all races were equal and evryone was accepting. Lots of traditions from the medieval times still uphold. One that has been going on for centuries is dressing up as fancy or crazy as you can to go to a ball for the Queen's birthday. The inventors were coming out with great new ideas. In general, life was pretty perfect.
Currency
The currency in Canessia is similar to the American dollar, because they have the same value. In Canessia, it is not called a dollar, it is called a fleur. Fleur means flower in french, it's called a fleur because the Canessians and Queen Canessa greatly admired flowers. A fleur is plastic and shaped like a rectangle, like the Canadian dollar, and it is transparent. Each different amount of money means a different colour. (1 fleur: light blue, 5: light purple, 20: light pink, 100: light yellow, 1000: light coral, 5000: light green) On each fleur there is a stargazer lily in the middle and the amount of money on the 2 of the corners. Like America, we also have coins with the same value. The coins are all the same size with the amount of money on the front. Depending on how much money is on the coin there is a different colour. The coins also have many little clouds on them. Here is a list to help you understand a little more. penny: ness & white clouds, nickel: luz & light cyan clouds, dime: bonnie & light grey clouds, aria: quarter & light magenta clouds. The word in the front is the name of the coin. The money in Canessia is quite pretty.
Other Information
The nation flower is a stargazer lily, and the animal is a nessie. The national fruit is called a Nessia. It is shaped like a star fruit and it has many different pastel colours. Each colour has a different taste (yellow: sweet lemon, pink: strawberry, red: watermelon, orange: orange, blue: blueberry, purple: grape, green: apple) here is the odd thing, if the fruit is not yet ripe, it tastes like a sour version. Just because the fruit is not ripe does not means its not edible. It almost tastes like those sour candies you buy at a candy store. You may start driving at age 16, but you cannot drive a flying car until you are age 18.
