The Third Army was a field army of the Royal Confederate Army during and in the years preceding the Northern War. It fought for nearly the entire duration of the conflict, bearing the brunt of the fighting on the front lines and playing a pivotal part in numerous operations and campaigns. It was able to narrowly escape destruction during the Battle of the Stuysk Delta following the Letnian Spring Offensive, and was forced to retreat back to Jedoria.
History
The Third Army was one of three field armies in existence before the outbreak of the Northern War, along with the First and Second Armies. It was assigned to protect northern Jedoria and engaged elements of the 1st Voldurian Front during the battle of Telkija. Following the expulsion of Letnian troops from Jedoria, the Third Army took part in Operation Ziedonis, and then continued playing a major role in the counter-invasion during operations around Lake Yunkina, where it helped trap Letnian forces in the Ivayev Pocket. It suffered heavy casualties in subsequent fighting around and east of the Siyalova River, before being forced back towards Stuysk during the Letnian Spring Offensive. It narrowly avoided annihilation, but was rendered ineffective as a fighting force. It retreated further west back towards Jedoria, where it remained until the end of the war.
