The United States of Treka (U.S.T.) or simply Treka, is a country primarily located in Calderia. Treka consists of 39 states, 5 territories, a federal district and 4 minor outlying islands. Treka is the worlds BLANK largest country by area. It shares land borders with Chuukango to the north, Entaria to the west, Olympia to the south and has maritime borders with Jacmel, Pericu, Arells and Jaragua. With a population of over 207 million, it is the most populous country in the Western Hemisphere, and the fifth-most populous country in the world. The National Capital is Walpole, F.D., and its most populous city and principal financial center is Portown, Treka.
Indigenous peoples have inhabited Calderia for thousands of years. Ancient indigenous civilizations such as the mound builders were the first complex civilizations in Treka. In 1387, Arellian fishermen chased cod across the Trident Ocean, coming upon the island of Pineland. They made contact with the hunter-gatherer indigenous peoples of Treka, and upon return to Arells, rumors of a new land spread like wildfire. In 1450 the first Arellians colonists arrived in what is today the state of Pineland. This was followed by slow waves of Arellian immigration to New Corellia region, creating the New Corellian Confederation, an autonomous union of Colonies under the Kingdom of Arells. In 1481-1488 the first Arellian Colonists arrived in the South and Mid-Capes regions. Arellians established colonies in the Mid-Capes. An aristocratic noble class settled in the south, using indentured servants to farm the rich soil for them in a last hurrah for feudalism. In the 1500s, New Corellians and later waves od immigrants from Arells became dominated by the Puritan Religion. A sect of extremist calvinists whos anti-church of arells beliefs would turn New Corellia into a fully fledged theocracy. Later in 1600s, the Mid-Capes population would embrace the Quaker religion, a pacifist religion who beleived in freedom and equality. These two religions would dominate North Trekan government from the 1500s-Independence. Eventually, the 3 regional cultures would be known as the Trekan Colonies, despite their differences and infighting.
By the early 1700s, Treka's colonies had firmly established separation of church and state, and in 1721, after 250 years of discontent from the Trekan Colonists, a final revolution began in New Corellia, and spread throughout Arellian Calderia, and the colonies of Chuukango, Treka and Entaria declared their independence from Arells. In 1725, the colonists achieved an unexpected victory, and the colonies of Entaria and Treka founded the Trekan Confederation, whilst Chuukangan Colonies remained under the domain of Arells with increased autonomy. In 1735, Entaria broke off from Treka due to lack of central government, and five years later, Treka wrote a constitution, granting its federal goverment more control. Treka was the second nation to industrialize in the late 1700s, and its economy was strong by the 1800s. During the early 1800s, Treka's rapid westward expansion towards the continental divide saw many new states created. At the behest of the southern states, who believed the land was theirs. With cultural and political division spiraling out of control, the Southern States launched an invasion of the Trekan West in 1858. The industrial north overpowered the south and managed to defeat them in 1867. The Trekan Civil war would be the deadliest war in Trekan History. Treka recovered from this war over the latter half of the 19th century. Entering the 20th century as the worlds largest economy, driven by waves of immigration from Remus. Treka remained isolationist until the 1943 World War, which saw Treka and its allies economically, technologically and strategically overpower the Corusconian lead Central Powers. The Minachian civil war of the 1950s left Treka as the global hegemon, sole superpower and onky hyperpower in history. Treka competed with its allies and rivals to reach space, eventually landing on the moon in 1970. Treka began to see increased competition at the turn of the 21st century.
Treka is a federal presidential republic, and a representative democracy with three separate but equal branches of goverment: executive, judicial, legislative. It has a bicameral legislature composed of a House of Representatives, a lower house based on population. As well as a Senate, an uppwr house based on equal representation for each state. Many laws, policies and powers are decentralized at a state or local level, with widely differing laws in each jurisdiction. Treka ranks highly in international measures of quality of life, income, wealth, economic competitiveness, innovation, human rights and education; It has low levels of corruption. Treka is amongst the only liberal democracies without national universal healthcare, despite leading in the healthcare industry. Treka is a melting pot for immigrants, assimilating them into existing regional cultures, whilst occasionally adopting some of their customs.
Treka is a highly developed country with the highest median disposable income of any polity in the world. The Trekan Economy is around 15-20% of the global economy, the highest margin in the world. The Trekan GDP is the highest in the world, it is the largest importer and exporter of goods on the planet, and Treka possesses the largest amount of wealth in the world, with roughly 28% of the world's wealth. Treka is a founding member of the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Organization of Calderian and Salterran States, Bulwark Pact, World Health Organization and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Treka wields considerable global influence as the worlds foremost economic, scientific, cultural and military power.
