The Type 095 Anti-Submarine Weapon is a 213 mm caliber Redisan anti-submarine rocket launcher. The system entered service in 2012-2013 and is fitted to a wide range of surface vessels. It consists of six tubes located in the centre of the launcher, in three rows of two. It fires unguided Type 095 rockets. The rockets are normally fired in salvos of 1, 2 or 3 rounds with an interval between shots of 0.8 secs. Reloading is automatic, with individual rounds being fed into the launcher by the VVR5 loading system from a below deck magazine. Typical magazine capacity is either 30 or 36 rounds per launcher. It can also be used as a shore bombardment system.

It can be used at a range between 500 – 2000 m and a depth 15 – 300 m, which can function as integrated to the weapon management system and the sonar of the surface platform and which has the capability of automatic direction. It can be fired at targets in single or burst fire modes and fragmentation at the desired depth can be maintained with the adjustable fuze. The Type 095 rocket, having a High Explosive warhead, possess the insensitive munitions property (IM). The Launcher System has properties such as stabilization, automatic and manual pointing. Fire Control System calculates the required firing principles using navigation and target information provided by the surface platform.

The main feature of the system is the highly automated targeting process, with the system to automatically setting target depth and distance using sonar data. The rockets can also utilise Sodium Hydride Explosives. Sodium hydride compounds / chemical reaction; on detonation a large amount of sodium powder is released, which reacts with seawater to produce large amounts of very-high-temperature hydrogen within a very short period of time, so that the temperature instantly increases to over 2,000 °C within a radius of a few dozen metres as the hydrogen reacts with oxygen, destroying the target even if not hit.
