Description
The Nauchrten State Railway Type 2011 Express High Speed Train, also known as either the Type 2011 or K 2011 (In Urranese service, where the K stands for Karafuto Railway Company) is a high-speed double-decker electric multiple unit train equipped with tilting cages designed by the Nauchrten State Railway Design Bureau in conjunction with the Urranese company Hitachi and the Urran Railway Group, with assistance from Statens Mekaniska Verkstäder and the State Technical College. It is the first train used by the Nauchrten State Railway with a operating speed above 300 km/h. It is primarily used by the Nauchrten State Railway on the High Speed Network for express intercity services, it is also in operation by the urranese company Karafuto Railway Company.
The Type 2011 is interoperable, containing equipment to allow it seamless travel in several continental Helsan and Ashai nations.
A Revision to the Type 2011, called the Type 2011A with newer engines allowing higher top speeds as well as updated interiors entered service in 2021 with plans to update all Type 2011 in service. The first two sets began operation on 1 January 2021
The Type 2011 has seperate and distinct A and B type power cars. Where the A type serves as the "Front" of the train and contains (in addition to the drivers compartment and mechanical/electrical equipment) the Train Commander's Compartment, a crew restroom and lounge that can be changed while in transit to a sleeping quarter with 5 beds (Two fold down bunk beds one bunk is normally folded down to serve as a sofa, one futon on the floor)on the upper floor, as well as a multi-purpose compartment on the lower floor (On Nauchrten State Railway trains this houses the Bistro).
The B type serves as the "rear" of the train and contains (in addition to a driver's compartment), a conductors compartment on the upper floor. With around half of the lower floor dedicated to cargo, large sliding doors on both sides allowing easy offloading and loading access. Most of the remaining area is dedicated to the technical equipment. It can be easily spotted due to its total lack of windows
History
Following the adoption of the Type 2000 Express High Speed in 1998 and the completion of the High Speed Continental 3 track the Nauchrten State Railway began investigating the feasibility of a train with a top speed above 300 km/h for usage exclusively on long-haul cross region service pn the new high speed network. With a intended effect to have the Type 2000 Express High Speed for shorter haul express and sleeper express services. Leaving this new train to only stop at the largest of stations and to cross the entire nation in less then one day.
The Urranese company Hitachi and the wider Urran Railway Group was involved from the early stages of this project due to the urranese experience with other high speed trains. The tilting cage was adapted from the Type 2000 Train family and allows the Type 2011 to maintain higher speeds in curves. A double decker design was decided on early, as this would allow the new train to keep more cars along the platform of a given station, smoothing and expediting boarding and disembarking. A demand from the State Railway that the train have at least some cargo space resulted in the creation of distinct A and B type power cars. Just like the Type 2000 this train was to feature high speed WiFi free for passengers to use onboard.
During design several prototype wagons were constructed, including restaurant and dining wagons, meeting and conference wagons, sleeping wagons(both 1st and 2nd class), 3rd class wagons, cinema wagons, combination passenger-cargo wagons and observation wagons (where most of the roof and walls were replaced with glass windows to allow superior viewing experience of the surrounding landscape. While all types of wagons had at least one successful prototype, to date only the First and Second class passenger wagons have seen mass production and service.
Prototypes were tested on the High Speed Kapitell line in the winter and summer of 2008. Delays in production as well as unexpected issues regarding the interior made the project miss it's designed service start of 2010. Instead the first Type 2011 train conducted its maiden voyage on new year's day 2011. It was a instant success in Nauchrtenfield and today is a core part of the State Railways fleet and service. It was also launched on the Karafuto Shinkansen Line in Urran, operated by the Karafuto Railway Company.
In 2018 the Nauchrten State Railway announced that a upgrade program for the Type 2011 would be started, with the first renovated set taking service on New Year's Day 2021, in celebrating 10 years of service. A website was set up where the public could present suggestions for upgrades. This upgraded variant was named the Type 2011A, and features upgraded interior with both power and USB sockets (The 2011 only having power sockets) for every seat among other things. The WiFi access was upgraded to include faster and more stable service. Furthermore the technical equipment was overhauled and upgraded in several ways, and new more powerful engines where installed; allowing a faster top speed of 370 km/h. However the Nauchrten Rail Administration has yet to raise the Type 2011A's allowed speed in curves, resulting in only a small increase in effective speed.

The Urranese K-2011 trains have the exact same formation as the trains used by the Nauchrten State Railway. The interior is also identical except that all seats are swivel-mounted. As such the table-groupings found on the Nauchrten State Railway trains does not exists either. Following Urranese Shinkansen naming conventions. High speed trains are typically named with the first letter of the company operating them, meaning that it is known locally as the K-2011.
Usage
Nauchrten State Railway
The Nauchrten State Railway operates the Type 2011 and Type 2011A exclusively on it's High Speed network, where they provide the core of longer distance daytime services. Running cross country services it is not uncommon for a single train to run continuously for two to three days, only stopping for any longer time once per day during the night to have cleaning crews serve and resupply the train and for the crew to be changed, in some cases an extra driver and train commander will accompany the train and have the crew operate in 6 hour shifts continuously.
Karafuto Railway Company
The Karafuto Railway Company of the Urran Railways Group is the only current Urranese operator of the K-2011 Series. It is operated on the Karafuto Shinkansen Line, connecting the island's only two large cities Maoka and Toyohara. It connects to the Aomori Shinkansen at Imabetsu.
The type is also under consideration to replace the E2 and E4 Series bilevel Shinkansen by the Kagoshima Railway Company.
