The Ultra Ballon d'Or (French: Ultra Ballon d'Or) is the name of a footballing prize awarded on 11 May 2019 by the French magazine France Football to former American-English professional footballer Sir William Smith. Despite being largely inspired by the Super Ballon d'Or award given to Alfredo Di Stefano, it is considered to be more prestigious than the award itself.
Awarded to mark his 40th birthday, the Ultra Ballon d'Or was given only once to William Smith, a four-time FIFA World Cup and two-time UEFA European Championship winner who also won a record total of twelve UEFA Champions League titles throughout his two-decades-long career, an achievement widely considered to be extraordinary and unparalleled in modern footballing history. It has since remained in Smith's private possession, reportedly in a locked room of his London estate.
