The Union of Metal States (Nefreedian: Unjonen av Metallstater) is one of the post-apocalyptic states operating in the former Socialist Worker's Republics of New Freedomstan, and one of the few post-states with a working telecommunications infrastructure. Its exact territorial boundaries is unknown, although seem primarily located in former Region #2. It was established shortly after the end of the New Freedomstani civil war, consisting of a mixture of veterans from the Republic of Nefreedia and former government loyalists.

Government

The Union of Metal States is a loose federation of several territories. Little is known of its exact workings, but membership in some form of metal band is required for citizenship. Some form of political pluralism seems to exist, but largely revolve around different subtypes of metal (such as the Heavy Metal Faction and the Black Metal Faction, both of which are known to exist). Within the Union there is an unknown amount of Metal States who each have one leader, the leaders in question electing one among them to act as overall leader and military commander. The leaders of each Metal State seems to be determined by regular 'rock-offs'.

Economy

Largely based around salvage, the Union of Metal States have a working telecommunications network, and seem to control at least two areas capable of food production (the Union claiming to control the east-end of Collective #3 in Region #2). While they have no access to hard currency, the Union have bands who continue to upload music to some websites including mutube. The band Armageddon is known to be a part of the Union of Metal States.

Military

The Union seems to be a relative military powerhouse, with access to petroleum reserves and armored units. The exact manpower of the Union is unknown, but estimated to be in the high thousands.
