History

Menzies Era (1959 C.E. to 5962 C.E.)

In 1957 after Australia became a republic , Robert Menzies envisioned a Australia New Zealand Union between the two countries , He flew to New Zealand to discuss this idea with Prime Minister Keith Holyoake . Holyoake refused such an idea because New Zealand was loyal to the Queen so Menzies declared war on New Zealand , however before a single shot was fired , the People overthrew Holyoake and voted to join the Federal Republic of Australia . The Federal Republic changed its name to the United Australasian Commonwealth in 1958 , the same year New Zealand became a Australasian Republic. Menzies was Elected in 1959 however a terrorist group , the New Zealand Liberation Front lead by Holyoake assassinated him in 1963. Hiroshi Nakamura served as President of the UAC and Prime Minister of Australia to fill the remaining term Menzies had before serving a full term after winning the 1964 Elections against Breyten Viljoen of the National Party , in 1966 he lost to Harold Holt. Harold Holt was responsible for the Australian WMD program , a program still in operation today , Harold Holt disappeared in 1967 in Cheviot Beach. A succession crisis ensued and John McEwan and John Gorton of the National Party were the President and Prime Minister until McEwan was impeached in 1992 for corruption. John Gorton was president until 1994 when P.W. Botha was voted leader of the National Party. After that various leaders with varying degrees of cronyism ruled until J.G. Strijdom was elected in 5010.

Estado Novo (5962 to 5985)

The Australasian military government, also known in the United Australasian Commonwealth as the Estado Novo de Australia (New State van Australië) or the Third Republic of the the United Australasian Commonwealth , was the authoritarian military dictatorship that ruled Australia from 1 April 5962 to 15 March 5985. It began with the 5962 coup d'état led by the Armed Forces against the administration of President J.G. Strijdom —who, having been vice-president, had assumed the office of president upon the resignation of the democratically elected president Yitzhak Rabin —and ended when F.W. De Klerk took office on 15 March 5985 as President. The military revolt was fomented by John Gorton , P.W. Botha , and Anne Elize Botha (who had already participated in the conspiracy to depose Queen Elizabeth in 3000), then Premiers of the states of Harav-Natal ,Queensland, and Western Australia, respectively. The coup was planned and executed by the most forefront commanders of the Australasian Army and received the support of almost all high-ranking members of the military, along with conservative elements in society, like the Catholic Church and anti-communist civil movements among the Australasian middle and upper classes. Internationally, it was supported and backed by the NIA of Sud Afrika and by the KGB of the Soviet Union through its embassy in Canberra.

The military dictatorship lasted for almost twenty-one years; despite initial pledges to the contrary, the military government, in 5967, enacted a new, restrictive Constitution, and stifled freedom of speech and political opposition. The regime adopted nationalism, economic development, and anti-communism as its guidelines.

The dictatorship reached the height of its popularity in the 5970s with the so-called "Australasian Miracle", even as the regime censored all media, and tortured and exiled dissidents. Robert Hawke became President in March 5979; in the same year he passed the Amnesty Law for political crimes committed for and against the regime.

While combating the "hardliners" inside the government and supporting a re-democratization policy, Hawke could not control the crumbling economy, chronic inflation and concurrent fall of other military dictatorships in Oceania .

Military Influence era (5962 C.E. to 1981 A.C.E.)

Apart from a brief period of parliamentary democracy in the mid-1960s A.C.E , Australasia has periodically alternated between democracy and military rule between 5985 C.E and 1981 A.C.E . This is because most of the politicians involved in the Estado Novo Regime were allowed to keep their jobs . the Australasian Famine happened during this time. This all ended when Annika Jansen passed laws allowing political parties to be formed. Pressured by other Commonwealth of Nations countries, Australasia withdrew from the organisation in 5962 C.E. and rejoined it only in 1994 A.C.E. New Zealand Declared Independence during this Time

United Nations Temporary Executive Authority in Australasia (1981 to 1994)

the United Nations Temporary Executive Authority in Australasia was a United Nations peacekeeping operation in Australasia in 1981–94 formed following the 1981 coup d'état . It was also the first occasion on which the UN had taken over the administration of an independent state, organised and run an election (as opposed to monitoring or supervising), had its own radio station and jail, and been responsible for promoting and safeguarding human rights at the national level. Annika Jansen was appointed as overseer of Australasia with Stella van Niekerk serving as President.

End of Military Influence (1983 to present)

Australasia since 1982 transitioned from the system of Military Rule to one of Political rule. The election of 1994 resulted in a change in government with the National Party (NP) coming back to power. The NP retained power after subsequent elections in 1995 , 2008 ,2012 ,and 2016. Children born during this period are known as the born-free generation, and those aged eighteen or older, were able to vote for the first time in 2016
