Urafaada is the capital city of Kaiye Tourie, straddling the banks of the Banga-Rwizi River in the middle of the Grand-Vert. With a population of over two million, Urafaada is also the largest city in Kaiye Tourie. As the centre of foreign investment and presence in Kaiye Tourie, it is comparatively well developed when compared to other urban areas in the country. Its importance as the political centre of the nation has helped it in this regard.
Etymology
The name Urafaada comes from the Albori words "Ura", meaning gold, and "Faada" which can be translated as either royal court or city. Urafaada was historically the center of several states which became rich due to the high amounts of gold found in the local areas, giving the city its name. During the Gaullican era, the city was known as Ourafade, a transliteration of the name.
