Caitland is inspired by early medieval Ireland and Scotland, probably unintentionally more the latter because I have read more about it. Unlike Scotland with England it was large and powerful enough to be a serious competitor to Alsaxony well into modernity, and the today-amicable relationship between the two in the Albish Community is balanced. Saxish is a compulsory subject in Caitish schools and vice versa, though the Caitish remember a lot more of Saxish than the Saxish do of Caitish.

Like Alsaxony it is thoroughly Protestant. Unlike Alsaxony children’s playgrounds are locked up on the Sabbath, contraception is is banned, and abortion considered murder. More like Kateland, am I right? Despite this extreme moral conservatism, Caitish politics are more competitive and indeed these issues lie far from the realm of political debate; the centre-left Labour Party has been in power since 2017, having previously governed from 1994 to 2009, and the centre-right National Party in opposition.
