The 2025 Aria Straits Floods were a series of floods in the Lughansk region & parts of the Uiortel Region of North Bardonia, the Inyizan Islands and the mainland Haverade caused by record breaking rainfall caused by two major storms in the Aria Straits region, Storm Isak (6th January to 17 January) and Storm Juliania (19th January to 24 January). Major and serious flooding was caused by a number of factors like the failure of levees across Lughansk and the failure of emergency flood gates in both countries alongside the ignorance of forecasting and warning prior to the fact. Additionally, in both Lughansk (Office of Canalworks and Waterways, OCW) and Haverade (Department of Rivers and Sea Development and Protection DRSDP) the failure of local waterway management organization who are assigned the job of protecting against major flooding were proved to blame for the failure of systems in place. Across both nations there were many casualties with a total of 91 people dying in part because of mudslides, cars being swept away and the flooding of homes in parts of Lughansk.
Describe by Lughansk First Minister Laura Retzinger of the Lughansk Social Democratic Party as "one of the greatest natural disaster seen by this nation and one that will forever remain scared in our mind"[1]
