Nendor (Nendor: Ⱀⰵⱀⰴⱁⱃ, ᠨᠡᠨᠳᠣᠷ), officially the Middle Highkingdom (Nendor: Eningaranyë, Ⰵⱀⰻⱀⰳⰰⱃⰰⱀⰵ, ᠶᠡᠩᠩᠭᠢᠷᠣᠨᠺ), is a country whose territory consists of metropolitan Nendor in western Nysa, as well as many overseas regions and territories. The metropolitan area of Nendor extends from (x) Sea to the x Channel and the x Sea, and from the x to the x Ocean. The overseas territories include x in x and several islands in the x, x and x oceans. The country's 18 integral regions (five of which are situated overseas) span a combined area of 643,801 square kilometres (248,573 sq mi) and a total population of 67.15 million (as of October 2017). Nendor is a Federal Absolute monarchy although it has been described as a Revolutionary Intergralist rule by Piasambë with Corporatocratic and Clercialist elements with its capital in Kortirion, the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre.

It has played historically a major role in Nysan history, originally unifying under the legendary Highking (or Megas Basileus) of the Selenian Highkingdom, Tar-Nértúra in 800, by the Archigos Diogenes V of the Manesian faith, Nendor became one of the most prestigious realms in Nysa yet thanks to the arrival of the Jochuts in 920 who after they subjugated the Highkingdom of Sunndemark sent the Blue Hoard to defeat the then divided realm. Not long afterwards, the Blue Horde dominated continental Nysa, and chose the old capital of Kortirion to be its seat. The new Sapphire Khanate increasingly began to import cultural and governmental systems from the central Khaganate, and increasingly began to adopt native customs simultaneously, creating a fusion of the two cultures and systems. The granddaughter of the Tar-Nerturan line, in particular, was wed to the Khan as a way of legitimising his line, disinheriting his elder children who he sent back to govern the kingdoms of former Sunndemark. Expansion slowed down with the land of Prythaean being the main source of opposition, with the Sapphire Khanate mounting several invasions. The largest was the 14th in which a massive fleet of 278 ships which was devastated at the Battle of the Sorrowful Sea. Importantly, the last ruler of the main Chingisid line Temur Khan died in the failed 14th invasion of Prythaean leaving the empire to split and fracture into two distinct halves one in the east and one in the west.

The Bicenturial Wars of Succession (1447-1637) became some of the bloodiest in Nysan history with seventeen million fatalities not just due to conflict but also due to varying degrees of famine, plague and illness and left the new divisions all the more fractured. Ending with the Peace of The Blue Khanate reformed back towards is Nendorish roots, calling itself once more the Middle Highkingdom. Furthermore, the Nenderish tradition of Transcendent Right began to emerge, with their increasing separation from the Selenian Church in favour of their own distinct Manesian tradition. This came to head in the 1670 Iconcoclasms in which the bishops of the church were slaughtered and many monasteries sacked by Schismatics on the behalf of Highking Tar-Atanamir the Great led to the Nendorish wars of religion. Despite these internal issues, Nendor would remain one of the major actors in the continent until a series of coalitions ended its sovereignty over the Blue Khanate, something which humiliated the restored Nértúraion line and left it open to revolt.

While it successfully put down the Octoberist Mutiny, it was a military coup which dethroned the longstanding Nértúraion dynasty in favour of Marion who crowned himself Highking Tar-Marion lo Lórohtaryë lo Nendor. The New Highking was a radical in his politics, wishing to be a superintendent of all mankind who could finally bring peace to his continent after centuries of warfare. A distant relative of the royal house and petty noble, Marion began his conquests in 1789 and has immensely successful but died under mysterious circumstances during his invasion of Ilmenya which collapsed without his leadership, leading Nendor into its long-standing regency council known as the Sovereign Body of Rulers and Administrators, forged from the old royal council known as the Piasambë. Marion placed strict meritocratic restrictions on succession to the throne, leaving his trusted aide, Chief of Staff and Minister of Military Affairs as Steward to protect his conquests. Nendor has resigned itself to be the centre of the Enheren, trying to build a reliable geoeconomic and political block which could survive the struggles it faces.

Politics

Government

From its initial creation to the present day, the Nendorish Archkingdom is formally led by controlled by its singular monarch the Ingaran/Ingaran as an absolute monarch, under the system of Ingaranist autocracy. While much of the nature of the state was changed by Tar-Mairon in the Metamorphis - the great legal reforms he made with his vision of Universal Monarchia in the aftermath of the Eclipse Ursuption. The person of the Ingaran himself, a sovereign with absolute authority, stands at the centre of the Ingaranist Autocracy. The rights of state power in their entire extent belong to the Ingaran. The autocrat further delegates his own power to persons and institutions, who act in his name, by his orders, and within the limits laid down for them by law. The purpose of the system is to supposedly benefit the entire country of Nendor and its dominions while it is justified on the ground of monarchs possessing a kind of hereditary Ultragnosis which gives them a degree of divine enlightenment. A metaphor existed likening the Ingaran to a national paternal father of all of the subjects of the Empire, to his children. Furthermore, unlike in many contemporary monarchies, the position of Prophet was often jointly held by the Ingaran as the Emperor-Prophet of all Esognsodom.

Succession is based on an election decided by the Royal Household and the Piasambë. Succession would be based on a two-stage election from which was based on the early tradition of the Nerturan monarchy in which his highest ministers and his family chose his heir and designated him Aryon out of a pool of potential candidates. This would grant the right to stand as the legal heir to the Ingaran after the death of the reigning one. The interim, he would serve as a co-monarch albeit an inferior one to the reigning monarch so one could govern if the other was campaigning elsewhere. The secondary state of the election would be to affirm the choice of the heir in which he would be affirmed by the Piasambë and the nobles of the realm. The coronation was to be followed with the new Ingaran serving for life, with no possibility of self-imposed abdication but forced abdication being a legal mechanism for the family to swiftly remove incompetent monarchs. The only demonstration of this was in the aftermath of the Eclipse Ursuption where Tar-Mairon was selected to be first Aryon and then Ingaran in a single night. Heirs to the throne are supposed to be and are expected to be loyal and competent as well as religiously and ideologically well versed.

The de facto reality however is that thanks to the sustained absence of the Ingaran due to the nature of Tar-Mairon’s will requiring “an heir truly worthy of my empire”, has led to after a period of initial instability a directorial system with the Piasambë - the Imperial royal council - serving as a cabinet of 24 ministers of state. The temporary head of state is the Steward of the Crown of the Line of Tar Mairon the Thrice Great, Minor Prince Cestan lo Tarria who has occupied the position since the death of Tar-Mairon. Lo Tarria is also the Minister of War and served formerly as the chief of staff and is widely believed to be due to his five-decade-long control of the Piasambë and with the majority of the other factions being aligned with him. He uses the Imperial Prerogative Powers to often bypass the Piasambë or enforce its will - due to his position as the voice of the throne. In spite of this, he rarely prefers to directly intervene and favours persuasion over blunt authoritarianism. The military as whole controls eight seats, with two high ranking officers of each of the four branches being represented, giving them a total of eight. Due to controlling a third of the votes, the faction wields tremendous influence. Two of Lo Tarria’s rivals occupy seats in this camp - the Colonel-Marshal Marquis Galu Húnvania and Grand Admiral Argalad Aianováya who frequently side with the Royal Contingent in the Court. The Next Six Seats are held by the Esognostic Clergy of Nendor, who operate with the seven seats held by the Royal Household which is primarily led by the Aryon (Crown Prince) Alcarin lo Lórohtaryë lo Nendor, the Great Grandson of Tar-Mairon. The last three seats are held primarily by the Chief officers of the Tribunal of The Crown Neoguilds, the corporatist institutions founded by Tar-Mairon. These men control the 25 Guilds which represent the various elements of society. The Nendorish Neoguild State may be defined as a syndicalist system upon which has been superimposed a powerful central government. The consumers' representatives described in the last article are an indication of the check and control which the people exerts over any tendencies to exploit the nation. While largely technocratic in nature, a large minority of these officials including the de facto head of the institution, Chief Chancellor Athae Lindĭoio, hold elected positions in the local councils across the nation.

The Maironic Universal Monarchia and his personal monarchy is an authoritarian regime with a monarchist and integralist orientation. It is largely influenced by Tar-Mairon’s military past and it still has a strong institutional presence in the country. Mairon himself was an Esognostic visionary whose vision was that of a universal monarchy was thought that there was a necessity for control over the forces of economic modernization in order to bring forth a civilization-wide renaissance comparable to the early pre-Jochut Nértúran period. The Royal Censors and the Police force maintain a careful political order and suppression threats to the government where they can. Strict state censorship is in place across the nation at large, a remnant of wartime policy due to an emphasis being placed on metapolitical discourse. Political language, in particular, is strictly regulated to ensure that crown endorsed terminology is used during political discussions and to ensure high standards of linguistic skill across the educated population.

The government largely enforces traditional Nendorish on their population, primarily supported via local initiatives such as funding of local art, ceremonies and customs. The Maironic Crown accepted the idea of corporatism as an economic model. The government embraced a wide array of politics, passing through monarchism, corporatism, para-fascism and nationalism.

The local administration of the crown of Nendor is regarded as relatively competent. Although rejecting liberal democracy, the Maironic Crown is not inherently anti-democratic but calls for a localised variant of what it calls "organic democracy" in which aristocrats and technocrats often take leading roles in. The Maironic thought critiques both modernity and postmodernity and as a consequence, It opposes global capitalism and liberalism and valorises hierarchy, neoguildism and meritocracy. It rejects the principle of human equality, arguing that humans are not born free and equal and that society is inherently hierarchical. It emphasizes the need for elites, claiming that this would allow for harmonious social hierarchy in which all people are aware of their particular responsibilities and tasks. In addition to the local democracies, the state grants either the church, the military or more generally the Neoguilds, a chance to serve as recognised leaders of local administrations. Certain of the larger cities, however, have their own institutional administrations, such as the Royal Officer Council in Kortirion and the various Merchant Boards established elsewhere.
