Valcourt is a seaside city in southern Avergnon along the coast of Siena Bay in the province of Selleaux. It is the province's sixth most populous city. Established in the late 1300s as a fishing village, the city rapidly industrialized in the late 18th century and later became a popular tourist destination. The Valcourt Channel has a large tidal range; the low tide mark is about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the seafront. The beach is sandy but low tide reveals areas of thick mud which are dangerous to walk on. Valcourt also serves a naval post for the Avergnon Navy.
