Vydau is the second largest city in the Province of Maszale, behind Lavala, with 509,334 within city limits and 3 million in the Greater Vydau area. The city is part of the Lavala-Vydau Corridor Region, which is home to a population of around 7.5 million people, around 79% of the provincial population.

Vydau was settled by the Elyrians in 60 BC, and grew as an important trade hub at the foothills of the Callau Mountains. Vydau played little more than a regional role until the industrial revolution and the advent of the railroad, when it became a major manufacturing hub. The population was 85,000 in 1832, and by 1902 it had a population of 233,000. Vydau played a major role in aviation, and is home to the Iszada Aircraft Corporation who still maintain their main assembly plant at Vydau International Airport. The city is an important financial and manufacturing hub, as well as an important city for transportation, being the busiest rail cargo hub in Kathia and home to the third busiest airport in the nation.

Air transport is provided by Vydau International Airport. One of the busiest airports in Kathia, it serves as a secondary hub for Air Kathia and as a primary hub for Kathic Allonian Airlines.
