Weekly Worker is a highly popular daytime television show broadcast weekly on MBS Three. It is designed to showcase the work carried out by workers in various sectors of the Malgravean economy, and instill a sense of pride and drive to achieve more in the workplace and achieve targets related to the countries three-year plan.
History
Weekly Worker was started under the Socialist Republic of Malgrave in an attempt to showcase the performance of workers in different parts of the Malgravean economy, with the idea that highlighting the efficiency of these workers would instill a sense of pride and drive other workers to perform equally hard which itself would help the countries three-year plans.
According to reports the Weekly Worker had a demonstrable impact on the efficiency of workers employed in sectors of the economy such as mining, forestry and heavy industry, although, it had less of an impact on workers employed in retail sectors and fishing. It also was linked to several accidents, and a few directives were placed in the 70s to prevent safety-measures being bypassed by workers in an attempt to increase their own workrate.
In the midst of the Lost Decade, the Weekly Worker was nearly cancelled due to the financial problems which nearly resulted in the demise of MBS, however, the rescue of the company led to the show being rescued at the last moment. A further effort was made by Conservative-Action politicians to scrap the show due to its historic links to the Socialist Republic, however, due to the overall decline of productity in the country it was seen as a viable method to try and improve economic conditions and was supported by Epping..
