The Xeddefex-class Battleship is a class of battleships of the Imperial Starfleet of the Imperial Duumverate. The Xeddefex originally served as the primary tool of the Vaadwek Royal Navy, a highly versatile starship capable of performing well either as part of a fleet or as an independent asset. It remains the primary component of Vaadwek combat groups, and is also an important part of the Imperial Starfleet. As one of the oldest designs in the Imperial Starfleet it is currently undergoing a slow replacement process by the Xirechard-class battleship.

Design

Offensive and defensive capabilities

The Xeddefex-class makes use of a variety of armaments, its primary weapons system are the 190 beam ports of Type-90 Quantum Disruptors, capable of destroying armour or hull at the quantum level. The Type-90 came as a replacement for the Type-12 Molecular Disruptor beam. The Disruptor arrays have the distinct advantage of having little upkeep beyond energy consumption, compared to missile or cannon armaments. The Type-90 with advanced target acquisition protocols can engage targets at ranges in excess of 150km, although the theoretical range is far beyond even that, however recommended engagement range for Imperial crews remains at 200km. Each Beam array fires in a straight beam out of ports in the hull of the ship, which are manipulated by magnetic fields to allow a 90 degree arc of fire from their gunnery port. This method allows follow up shots to instantly retarget enemy vessels without the need for manual movement of turrets or cannons. The Xeddefex has twenty-eight disruptor ports on its fore, with ninety-six on either side and on the aft vessel.

In addition to the beam arrays the Xeddefex carries a complement of 7M missile tubes, which are highly versatile and capable of hosting a multitude of warheads such as EMP warheads, quantum disruption warheads, plasma warheads, nuclear fusion warheads, and independently targeting cluster interdiction warheads. The 7M missile is powered by a small onboard fusion engine, allowing it to rapidly accelerate and achieve high top speeds. The 7M has enough energy in its onboard capacitor to support a range of approximately 700km. Some variants of the 7M missile, known in Imperial service as the V7M, utilize a small onboard version of the Dra'almarr cloaking device, allowing it to engage targets without being detected, however these missiles remain experimental and are too expensive for regular service. The Xeddefex houses 152 MLTS launch systems, 32 are utilized as VLS sytems on the top of the vessel, 32 are found forward-facing on the fore of the vessel allowing for immediate, rapid acceleration towards the target, the last 88 are found on the sides of the vessel.

The Xeddefex also utilizes a complement of Type-38 and Type-37 Molecular disruptor cannons. The Type-38 turrets house two 120mm disruptor railguns, with advanced onboard tracking, prediction and targeting, these are primarily used to engage smaller craft such as frigates, destroyers and corvettes. The railguns are capable of firing at a rate-of-fire of 400 rounds per minute each, giving the overall Type-38 system a sustainable rate-of-fire of 800 rounds per minute There are 6 Type-38 turrets mounted on the top of the ship and 4 located on the underside, a further 4 on the fore of the ship. The Type-39 heavy disruptor cannons are far larger, with each system boasting three 300mm disruptor railguns, firing a dense tungsten penetrator accompanied by neutrino disruptors to produce a nuclear blast capable of melting through any type of armour or hull. 5 of the 8 Cannons are found on the bottom of the ship, the other 3 are found on the top and front of the ship.

The final defensive line of the Xeddefex are the Type-37 Disruptor Point Defence turrets, which boast three independently targeting disruptor beams including heavily shielded onboard computers and targeting systems, the Type-37 itself is a single small turret with three small ports for each disruptor beam, the turret can swivel 360 degrees in its housing. The disruptor beams are then magnetically manipulated to each target incoming enemy strike craft or missiles. The magnetic manipulators can also be used to focus all three beams on a single target in order to cause more damage to a larger ship such as a frigate. Should power failure or other error cause the magnetic manipulators to be knocked offline the Type-37 is able to utilize the swivel of the turret to intercept incoming missiles at a cost of efficiency.

Electronics

Complement

The Xeddefex carries ten Falcon-class light attack craft, which are a multirole sublight fighter capable of complex maneuvres and able to equip itself with anti-ship torpedoes, or anti-strike craft guided missiles, all light attack craft come equipped with two forward-facing quantum disruptor ports.

In addition to the Falcons, the Xeddefex carries a single Qalor-class sublight gunboat, which is primarily an interdiction gunboat designed to engage incoming hostile missiles and strike craft with its own four Type-37 disruptor turrets.
