Emperor Xuande (Xihua Zhi) is the Emperor of the Great Zhi Empire. Xuande was born in 2000, in Shaozi Palace, Zhijing, during the reign of her father, Emperor Anguang. Among the youngest of the former Emperor's children, Xuande was an unlikely candidate for the throne. She was appointed as Crown Princess in 2008, months before her ascention. She was given a Princely education at Shaozi Palace by the greatest tutors in the Empire, alongside her dozens of brothers and sisters. She held no prior government posts, nor was she in the public eye before her declaration as Crown Princess. The motivations behind her selection as the heir are not publically known.
Thrust upon the throne before reaching maturity, Xuande's early years were spent under a Princely Council, led by conservative elements of the Imperial Family. Upon reaching maturity, she passed a singular act, extending the authority of the Princely Council indefinetly, as well as congratulating the government of Yiquang Xun on their relection. This Princely Council was only disolved upon the Xuande Restoration, for which they were prosecuted for corruption by the next government. Hongli Cuyan launched a coup to expel the Princely Council and the democratic government of Zhaolin Hui, marrying himself to Xuande as his primary consort. While her regency is notionally over, little has actually changed. She has held court only three times in her reign.
