Yangte of Bo (Бо Йангте, Bo Yangte, 鉑陽帝), also known as Yangte was the ruler of the Pun of Bo who unified the Nozama Valley and founded the Bo dynasty. After unification, he took up the title of emperor; as a result, he is known by historians as the first ruler of Namor.

Yangte is viewed as a ruler who had a strong sense of justice and was both intellectually and martially talented; for that reason, he is worshiped as a demigod by some Namorese and many legends involving him exist in Namorese folklore. Namorese nationalists view Yangte as the progenitor of the Namorese nation - the Namorese calendar, the year numbering system used in Namor, begins with the unification of the Nozama Valley under Yangte.

Biography

Yangte was born in PNMR 43 as Li Jik (李治), the eldest son of Li Jung, the previous monarch of Bo. According to the historian-poet Su Feng, Li was educated in politics from a very young age and soon helped his father oversee the kingdom's subjects. By mastering the writing systems of every pun, he became learned in the cultures of the Nozama Valley.

In PNMR 16, Li Jung was killed during a battle with soldiers from the Pun of Ka, and Li Jik assumed the throne. Vowing to avenge his father's death, Li personally led a massive army to conquer the Pun of Ka. After four years of fighting, Bo troops captured Kadu, the capital of Ka. To celebrate the victory, Li rounded up the House of Ka and every inhabitant in Kadu and set up a ceremony to honor his ancestors. Then, he slaughtered the prisoners before an altar representing the gods and the deceased Bo monarchs.

Shortly after conquering Ka, Li turned his attention to Bo's two remaining neighbors - the Pun of Tai and the Pun of Nan. He invaded Tai first, conquering the kingdom by PNMR 9. The conquest of Tai alarmed Nan's rulers, who built a colossal citadel along the western bank of the Nozama River to halt any Bo invasion. Due to its perceived impregnability, the citadel earned the name Namo (南屋), meaning "the Southern Citadel." For years, the Bo tried besieging Namo with little success. Li finally countered by raising a large navy. In a battle that lasted several days, Bo forces managed to cross the Nozama River and overrun the citadel. After the fall of Namo, Nan was quickly conquered and the Nozama Valley was unified.

Following the victory over Nan, Li named himself Yangte (Emperor of the Sun).

Yangte ruled until his death in NMR 28.
