Yucatan

Yucatan (Spanish: Yucatán; Yucatanese Mayan: Yokot'an), officially the Republic of the Yucatán (Spanish: República de Yucatán, Yucatanese Maya: Belil Yokot'an) is a Caribbean country in North America. It borders Mexico in the west, the Gulf of Mexico to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east and Belize and Guatemala to the south. It also shares a maritime border with Cuba. It has a population of 8,419,199 (2020). Yucatan is a representative democracy; its capital and largest city is Mérida.
