Zatroth is a planet located in the Center of the Talin Galaxy and a part of the Galactic Union. An ecumenopolis sitting at the origin of several major Overspace routes, the planet is the homeworld of the Zatarais and was the center of the Zatroth Alliance which occupied most of the Galactic Center around Solymus and ran a vast slave enterprise. In 2390 BHT, the Alliance came into conflict with the Galactic Union. Due to the fact that the Old Union declared slavery illegal and expected other civilizations of the galaxy to comply, it took an aggressive stance against the Zatroth's slavery practices. Zatroth refused to comply and attacked Haivis, forcing both the Old Union to intervene. In a multi-year war called the Core War, the Old Union ultimately came out victorious, forcing out the practice of slavery in the Galactic Center and Core, and annexing the center of the Galaxy. With the capitulation of Zatroth, the centering of administration in Aciorus, and the addition of Ocharia to the Union, the Galactic Center had been consolidated.
